Good Movie. Everybody acted well in the movie. BGM in the movie was not so good. The movie somewhat bored at 1st half. The movie was interesting and thrilling at 2nd half. Good Movie.
Caught this film on Netflix today when casually browsing. What a surprise!
First of all, a big round of applause for the producers for funding this film centered around death/mourning/funeral. I can imagine it is not easy to fund such efforts in superstition ridden India. The story, direction, casting, music, cinematography, art direction, etc. were a tad amateurish in one or two scenes, but doesn't take away from the overall quality of the film by much. The main actors played their characters well. Natural settings, dialogue, costumes, make up (or lack of it), etc. give an authentic feel to the movie and brought forth the rural atmosphere to the foreground.
A couple of hours well spent! We need more movies like this!

An offbeat movie that centers around conflicts, misunderstanding and finally reconciliation between a grandmother and a granddaughter. Set in a village where many are gainfully employed in the funeral industry, Krishnaveni is known as Oppari Kizhavi (funeral singer). Ailing and yet defiant Krishnaveni makes one last attempt to reach out to her estranged granddaughter Meera (Kuppamma). The dynamics of their relationship and their fiery fights adds pace to the story and makes it engaging.
Naturally shot in the rustic environ, the film is stark, raw and beautiful. Kudos to the director for giving us an engaging story with such simplicity.

A beautiful picturization of the relationship between grandmother and her granddaughter, rift between two families and their profession which depends on death.
It is one of those movies which is predictable but still works for you.!
At times, actors make us feel the play is artificial but ignorable.
Everyone who involved in making the movie did their part brilliantly and made it a worthy watch.

Hats off to the entire crew to come up with such a great theme and the producers to agree to do such a great attempt by the new generation
