Film review : Kakababu Protyoborton ( in theatres)

Directed by Srijit Mukherji, this is the 3rd installment of the Kakababu series, the first first two being Mishawr Roshoshyo and Yeti Obhijaan. I had great expectations frm this one but it left me a tad bit disappointed.
The storyline is very simple, Kakababu and Shontu are on a vacation in the African Savannah's where they get involved in a sinister mystery.
First the positives, Prosenjit and Aryan Bhowmik rock as Kakababu and Shontu. A surprise package is Anirbhan Chakraborti ( aka Eken Babu ) in a special role aping Jatayu from Feluda as the third musketeer.
Starts off very well with stunning views of the African forests, animals, quippy one-liners & the banter between the three protagonists. There is also a twist in the 2nd half that is interesting.
Now the things that I didn't like.... The story tends to drag with nothing happening for long periods of time. The story might have been a great read but when translated into a movie ... It pales a bit and makes u feel like u r watching an extended animal planet video. Thrilling moments sorely missed.
Crisp editing could've easy reduced the runtime by around 45 mins . Or it could've been released as a 3 part mini web series which would have appealed more to true blue Kakababu fans.
But hey.. don't be too sad, watch it anyways. Not a bad film and I'm sure many of my bangla bondhu's will enjoy it for the sheer nostalgia involved in seeing their childhood heroes and characters come alive on the big screen.
I'll go with 2.5/5 for this .. Adios 🙂

Kakababu Protyaborton is another dismal entry in Kakababu trilogy made by Srijit Mukherji. Pretty bad choice of story, but the director only wanted to showcase foreign locales. I'll give the positives (if any) and negatives down below -
Negatives - 1. The wooden performances from Prosenjit, Aryann, Srijit himself, and the extras. They just remembered the dialogue and read it like it is.
2. Distracting product placements from a biscuit ad to chocolate, even a cough syrup takes you out of the film.
3. The same drone shots. If you have watched Chander Pahar or Amazon Obhijan, the shots looks eerily similar to one another. Also the bland colour palate used in this kind of adventure movies is getting repetitive.
4. No true sense of adventure or mystery.
5. Background score and songs.
6. The tongue in cheek reference to Anirban Chakraborty being Jatayu (whom he played in Srijit's Feluda) is too many.
Positives -
1. Its the end of the series hopefully.
I really hope some better director with suitable actor adapts Kakababu in true sense and adapts the good stories which has thrills and doesn't need to focus on foreign location. Watch Sobuj Diper Raja instead or underrated Kakababu Here Gelen. Dare I say even Ek Tukro Chaand is better than this.

Srijit Mukherji's Africa traveling vlog. With lots of random wild animal shot for one hour and a plot of 15 minutes including Kakababu crew talking about Feluda for 1 hour 15 mins. Great content to upload on YouTube.
This movie show in svf really exceeds my expectation, The pop corn was good nachos was good, the recliner was wonderful. Overall had a great experience except the movie. I really recommend to watch this movie with your gf if do not get a chance to spend some quality time with your gf.
It is feel like I am watching national geography channel or discovery channel and 2nd thing is there is nothing like "Rohosyo Bhed" which we saw in other kakababu franchisee's means kakababu did not solve any mystery in this film .. so I would suggest don't waste your time to watch this film..just because it is a kakababu franchisee's and bumbada is there in the film.. that is why I am giving 3 stars.
