    No chemistry, no show.

The chemistry and charisma and the ensemble cast aspects of this once reliable soap/mystery have gone completely out of the series. It's boring, preachy and just plain dull. The only entertaining scenes in this episode were those btw the curate played by Al Weaver and the always reliable Robson Green. Everything else fell flat. Some shows can survive actor departures and some cannot. This one seems headed for the dustbin in another season or two.

Hate it when the main character of a series is replaced

They don't show the episodes in my country in the correct order, so after the first 4 episodes we are suddenly confronted with S4E3 and I wonder where the priest is.

And yes, even though the title of the series is "Grantchester", the main character was Sidney Chambers, not the boring police person or anybody else. And the priests replacement is superfluous. They could as well kept on without a priest. Or not at all.

    New and Fresh

I enjoyed Sidney's character very much, but over time his excessive drinking and carrying on got rather tired. Geordie is a much more interesting character and he shined in this episode. We will see how the new guy does and how Leonard will manage after the landlady saw what she saw. There are some touching scenes here with humans being humans. The business with Geordie's wife is a really interesting development.

The heart ripped out..but the body lives on

No Rev C so becomes nothing outstanding -Based on the novels... The first advert was for PureCremations - no vicar needed also 😳😬😱 Gone totally PC and totally unlikeable characters now at the forefront. Dull and tedious and annoying..

    Soldiers On

Grantchester soldiers on without the handsome and troubled Sidney Chambers. But the other characters don't disappoint. They have all still have growing to do.

To the homophobes who want to straight wash history: There's nothing revisionist about depicting gay people in the 1950s. Gay people have existed in every century. Leonard represents the countless of men of God who have struggled to have their vocations honored simply because they are gay. My advice is to actually study history before you attack the accuracy of characters like Leonard.
