A pleasant interlude before the new vicar

Overall a nicely done episode. Not quite up to the same level as the better episodes with Sidney, but still quite enjoyable.

The Bletchley references are nicely done as Alex is an Alan Turing type character. Complete genius who was a big part of WWII, but never recognized due to his proclivities. A sad commentary on how someone who changed the course of the war was treated.

Watching the interaction of Geordie and Leonard was quite fun. Geordie has grown since the early episodes and has come to realize that his prior ideas of how those who have a different view of love are still people and worthy of respect. Leonard is becoming more of a Chaplin inside of just a curate. Geordie's wife is assaulted by her boss at the store and shows an inner strength that did not exist prior to Geordie's dalliance.

Overall a very enjoyable episode that shows the growth of the characters and leads into the next episode with the introduction of the new vicar.

    When will they ever learn?

Series 4. Quote from the Radio Times web site: "The new series will also see characters tackling themes such as homosexuality, racism and female equality."

So its going the sanctimonious and proselytising way that's killing (or killed) Doctor Who, preaching at us what we must think. Homosexuality and racism have been lectured at us.

Can we have the good old detective drama back without the pontifical indoctrination. Lets be entertained not be homilized in every episode.

It will be the death of Granchester.

    Soldiers On

Grantchester soldiers on without the handsome and troubled Sidney Chambers. But the other characters don't disappoint. They have all still have growing to do.

To the homophobes who want to straight wash history: There's nothing revisionist about depicting gay people in the 1950s. Gay people have existed in every century. Leonard represents the countless of men of God who have struggled to have their vocations honored simply because they are gay. My advice is to actually study history before you attack the accuracy of characters like Leonard.

    The show is called GRANTCHESTER

NOT Sidney. And yes, Norton did a great job of showing how troubled his character was. But as we saw through three seasons including wartime flashbacks, Sidney was on a journey, searching. And when he found what he hadn't even realized he was seeking, he was smart enough to go after her & find his peace. So his journey continues & I thought the final episode was a great tribute to an excellent character. But Grantchester has other excellent characters & I will continue to follow their stories. In no way is Grantchester p.c., post-War was an era of huge social change, how could it not be? And we get to watch some of those changes happen on a personal level. As pastoral & bucolic as Grantchester seems, there is so much more going on beneath, totally true to the village of 2,200 I lived in decades ago. I am totally looking forward to seeing how our new young motorcycle-riding preacher varies from the excellent Mr. Chambers.

The heart ripped out..but the body lives on

No Rev C so becomes nothing outstanding -Based on the novels... The first advert was for PureCremations - no vicar needed also 😳😬😱 Gone totally PC and totally unlikeable characters now at the forefront. Dull and tedious and annoying..
