I am not particularly familiar with the Constantine character, as I never got into the comic books. But as I happened to stumble upon this 2018 animated movie, of course I opted to sit down and watch it.
Writer J. M. DeMatteis actually put together a rather good and interesting script and storyline for director Doug Murphy to bring to the screen. I have to admit that I was genuinely entertained throughout the course of the 90 minutes that the movie ran for. It was a dark and violent storyline, so this is hardly suitable for a younger audience.
With "Constantine: City of Demons" being an animated movie, of course having a good voice acting cast ensemble is important. And they definitely had that here. I didn't recognize any of the voices initially, but it was nice to see the names of Kevin Michael Richardson and Robin Atkin Downes on the cast list, as I perused IMDb to check who voiced the various characters.
Visually then I will say that the art style used in "Constantine: City of Demons" was good. It was a very fitting drawing and art style used for the animated movie, and it complimented the atmosphere of the dark storyline quite nicely. Plus, the animation itself was also quite good.
Without being very familiar with the John Constantine character, I will admit that "Constantine: City of Demons" proved to be an entertaining watch nonetheless.
My rating of "Constantine: City of Demons" lands on a seven out of ten stars.

Constantine: City of Demons is a violent, gory and very atmospheric horror and adventure fantasy adult animated film. The movie is full of interesting characters (mostly demons) besides John Constantine. I loved particularly Nightmare Nurse and Angela! There is some dark humor, but also a lot of pure good-quality horror, with several remarkable situations, places and creatures. It is an animated DC Comics movie that engages spectator throughout the story, until the bright ending. The portrayal of Los Angeles was very innovative. Good script and nice animation constitute a formidable combination.
City of Demons was very good! With that said, the horror story theme really made the movie extremely interesting, along with great story telling. DC and WB did a great job with this movie and the character of Constantine! We are all are begging for more!
The twelfth entry in the DC Animated Movie Universe and the 34th overall entry in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies. Originally premiered as a web series and later released as a feature-length film on DVD and Blu-ray.
A much darker tone than the rest of the films. Solid animation, outstanding voice cast, fantastic direction and a well written engaging screenplay.

It's really one the best outing for Constantine ! Superb animation a bit over the top gore but really like how his character is shaping up. And it looks promising too, he shaping up to be an important character in the larger scheme of things. Looking forward for more movies on him and would like Zatanna with him too and her own movie of course.

- TriviaWhen Chas and John are in the car being chased by demon dogs, Chas asks John if he can "magic them away". John answers: "Who the hell do you think I am? Benedict bloody Cumberbatch?" No doubt a reference to Cumberbatch's character Stephen Strange in the Marvel movie Doctor Strange. Strange is an accomplished sorcerer.
