The music, the atmosphere. Everything is perfect

What more can I say? I love this show, it's seriously good. The music choices are excellent, the set pieces are awesome, and the acting is top notch. Another great episode.

    The race is on.

A fabulous follow up develops the story and simultaneously ups the ante as both the Americans and the Russians declare their hands and a new space-race direction is proposed. Fidelity, loyalty and honesty are at stake and relationships adjust to the new normal.

    Its never too late!

Being just as great and exciting as the first episode, episode 2 starts out showing s that the well known Neil Armstrong survived the Moon landing and that America still is in the race, which leads to the episode confronting many fronts and letting many characters out in the cold, but also letting some of them into the warmth of Nasa again, which we see Ed do, with Deek telling him that he is reinstated as an Astronaut on the upcoming Apollo 15.

All which sets the next episode up perfectly with some fantastic fictional storytelling!!!!

(9/10) Magnificent Episode and i cant wait to get going with the rest!

    Race.... Trail... and dreams

Relationships, when pitted against such high stakes, become a heated and emotional affair. For All Mankind Season 1 Episode 2, "He Built The Saturn V," looks into whether we really know someone over the years, and whether we must accept them for who they are then and now, or to move on completely. The Apollo team able to set flight and return home is rather sudden, and rather positive. Some shows would take the time to bring them home with many faults and errors along the way; For All Mankind, though, is looking forward to a bigger concept, and rather move at a faster clip. The episode taking on the women's perspective of this era is a fantastic change of pace. Margo, and Wrenn Schmidt with her portrayal, brings an enthusiasm to her love of the work, and so becoming the first woman in mission control will hopefully bring with it chances to prove herself. Her closeness to Wernher is one of the more endearing friendships on the show, their quiet times together and quips back and forth this father/daughter sort of relationship that really speaks volumes about the care they have for each other and for the work they do. It makes the reveal later on during the episode that much more heartbreaking for her. Karen convincing Tracy not to divorce Gordo is certainly a window into the ways of the past, of the view of divorce and a woman's responsibility to her family. It feels so foreign now, with Karen's pleas for Tracey to do right by her family. Karen's advice may be in the right place, but in the modern day, it feels like she is saying all the wrong things. It's this moral dilemma of the time period being a burden.

    • Trivia
During the Congress hearing, Von Braun's pictures with Hitler and other high ranking Nazis are real, as well as all the accusations by Congressman Sandman. In real life, the amount of his actual involvement as a war criminal, as well as his membership in the SS, were kept secret in order to maintain public opinion on his side. The song is real too: written by Tom Lehrer, it was falsely rumored that Von Braun sued him over it.

    • Quotes

Edward Baldwin: Look, I know you came out here to get away from all the questions, but it's still my backyard. So, spit it out. Did they really make you go through customs when you came back?

Neil Armstrong: I got the receipt to prove it.

Edward Baldwin: Jesus! That was a hell of a landing, Neil.

Neil Armstrong: If you can call it that. Maintaining attitude control was no joke.

      Edward Baldwin: I bet.

Neil Armstrong: Tell you the truth? I can't believe I didn't abort.

Edward Baldwin: Well, you pulled it off. It was a good call.

Neil Armstrong: Easy to say that looking back. Couple things go different, we drift a little bit further into those rocks we're a smoking hole and I got my name on the biggest disaster in NASA history.

Edward Baldwin: Then why'd you go for it?

Neil Armstrong: I don't know. You're in flight test and, every once in a while, you get to that point where part of your brain is saying, "Eject". But another part of your brain is saying, "Go for it". And you just have to make the call and hope you're not wrong.
