- Hope McCrea: Tonight is Virgin River's annual Moonlight Mingle.
- Melinda Monroe: Still lost.
- Hope McCrea: The Moonlight mingle is the premier social event in the Virgin River calendar. Every year, the entire town gets together on one of our resident farms for dinner and dancing. When you least expect it, the DJ shouts mingle and all dancers have to switch partners.
- Melinda Monroe: So it's kind of like a Square dance.
- Hope McCrea: No! Its not like square dancing, this is a semi-formal event.
- Jack Sheridan: It's actually kind of elegant!
- Melinda Monroe: Okay. Well thank you very much but I'm going to have to pass
- Hope McCrea: You cant pass. That would be considered highly unsociable
- Melinda Monroe: By who ?
- Hope McCrea: Me ! And the entire town.
- Melinda Monroe: I'm not much of a dancer
- Joey Barnes: That's a lie !
- Melinda Monroe: Joey !
- Jack Sheridan: Your sister sure seems to be having a good time.
- Melinda Monroe: Yeah she's gifted when it comes to having fun.
- Jack Sheridan: Not you ?
- Melinda Monroe: Well, I always had to work really hard to get what I wanted. And with Joey it just kind of came easily. Its hard to compete with her.
- Jack Sheridan: Come on. I don't see any competition.
- Melinda Monroe: Yeah that's because I've gotten good at hiding my flaws.
- Jack Sheridan: Too bad you don't see yourself the way the rest of the world does.
- Melinda Monroe: What about Bill and the kids? It's your birthday tomorrow?
- Joey Barnes: Well, this was his present to me. Three days, no kids, and no responsibilities. What is the matter? Aren't you happy to see me?
- Melinda Monroe: I am happy to see you. I just find it really odd that you chose to have your birthday in Virgin River.
- Joey Barnes: I chose to spend my birthday with you.
- Melinda Monroe: I was just coming to see how you were doing.
- Jack Sheridan: Yeah. I'm good. Why you asking?
- Melinda Monroe: Just curious.
- Jack Sheridan: Since we're being curious, where have you been the last few days?
- Melinda Monroe: Doc gave me a few days off, so I could recover from the whole pot thing.
- Jack Sheridan: How you doin' with that?
- Melinda Monroe: I'd kind of rather just forget it ever happened.
- Joey Barnes: So get ready, 'cause I feel like dancing.
- Melinda Monroe: Well, I don't think the Mingle is gonna live up to your expectations.
- Joey Barnes: As long as there's a bar, I will be fine. Okay?
- Joey Barnes: Look, you can hide out here for as long as you want, but until you deal with reality, you are never gonna get your life back on track.
- Melinda Monroe: Just because I'm not you does not mean that my life isn't on track.
