Ten years ago this would have made the perfect family film dreamworks or Nickelodeon animation studios would have made big. Today, you're gonna likely miss it because of all the bigger budgeted and heavily advertised other films out there.
The story is a pretty solid one and funny too. The music is good with some new music and an old school vibe to it all. Martin Lawrence is hilarious and for those gen X folks like myself, there's some throwback to the show brands we grew up with.
This is a family movie that I put up there with Toy Story because it was nice to get a fresh perspective on a story Disney and Nickelodeon has told pretty much in everything.

Both my son and daughter liked this movie, which is rare in our household. Some cute adult humor as well which made it nice for the whole family. It's a little slow at times, but had a nice message about brothers and sisters looking out for each-other and a nice moral in the end. There aren't many family-friendly movies out there. I definitely recommend if your kids are into sneaker culture (and even if they aren't!) not sure why this has so many low ratings. Is it going to make your list of favorite movie of all time, maybe not but def recommend for a family trip to the cinema. Also great music and fun for basketball players with Chris Paul.
Edson wins a pair of unique basketball shoes. The Collector is frustrated in losing the raffle and offers to pay the world for them. Edson turns him down and intends to wear them in a big basketball game. Shoes in this world are like the toys in Toy Story. This pair is Ty and Maxine. Ty wants to stay clean and pure while Maxine is excited to get into the game. The Collector refuses to let it go and tries to steal them. Ty is happy to go into the collection, but Maxine manages to escape.
I don't mind the lower quality animation. The jankiness feels a bit like stop-motion and graffiti. It's not the most advanced or expensive. It does feel like it fits. I don't agree with Edson to wear the shoes. Here's my pitch. Make them worn in-game shoes from his favorite player. He thinks that they will give him powers from that player. There is an extra unnecessary character which muddles the premise. It's a cleaner story to leave it all on The Collector. There are problems here, but it's not anywhere near the worst movie of the year.

This film will sit comfortably in the worst film of the year slot.
It's a film that thinks it's smart. But in the end, comes off as a rip off of Toy Story, Secret Life Of Pets, but with shoes instead of other things.
Animation is cheap and poorly done, voice acting is laugh out loud bad! Plot gets really dumb sometimes. And you got to remember, this is a movie about TALKING SHOES!! That gives you everything you need to know about the film. All the shoes are unlikeable and boring. It's clear this film had no real effort put into it!
I don't give movies 1/10 or .5/5 that often, but when I do. That's when you know, it's not a good movie. And is entirely impossible to watch.

This move was made for siblings. The rivalry and the closeness that siblings experience are displayed throughout the film. Like a pair of sneaks they are your other half for better or worst.
The voice casting is phenomenal.
Loved the animation style. The details in different pairs of shoes you don't realize it looking at shoes everyday, but the detail was seen and put on display in high definition on close up scenes.
Truthfully I did cry a bit towards the end during the emotional scene. It also brought to light how much personal value into a pair of shoes. Whether good or bad.
The scenes were the shoes helped each other was a highlight for me, because Whether in singles or pairs they did everything to help each other.
