Apharan's second episode successfully moves the central plot forward, delving deeper into the murky world Rudra has entered.

Arunoday Singh continues to own the screen as the weary ex-cop, and it's compelling to watch him navigate the risky game he's playing. We get a better sense of his personal stakes and the gravity of his situation, which makes his character even more sympathetic. The episode does a good job of building suspense, revealing just enough to keep the audience hooked without giving away all its secrets.

However, the series' stylistic choices remain a mixed bag. The constant, and often loud, use of retro Bollywood music feels more like a crutch than a clever homage. It's a jarring element that clashes with the gritty, realistic tone the show otherwise strives for. Instead of adding to the tension or atmosphere, the songs often feel like an over-the-top distraction. While the story is progressing well and the performances are strong, this stylistic quirk holds the episode back from its full potential.

It's a solid watch for the plot and the acting, but you'll have to overlook a few missteps in its creative direction.
