Sometimes you're completely caught off guard by the sheer imagination and originality behind short films-and The Elephant's Garden is a perfect example. It opens immediately with characters unlike anything you've seen before. What sets them apart is the distinct way they're drawn and portrayed, making even familiar creatures and objects feel alien. There's a constant sense of recognition-you feel like you should know what you're looking at, but you can't quite name it.
Since the characters are mostly animals or other non-human beings, there's no dialogue. But this animated short doesn't need any. The magic lies in the uniqueness of the characters and the absurdity of the events they experience-or the fates they meet. A strange, but refreshingly original film!
