A new pirate franchise in the horizon
This 56min indie feature brings us a fresh new pirate action-adventure concept. After watching the movie I can say think Pirates of the Caribbean meets Indiana Jones. I think "The Last Pirate" can perfectly be placed in the realm of "Pirates of the Caribbean" with a little darker and grungier look and feel, perhaps someday it might crossover broadening that world. Or even opening the possibility in bringing another pirate franchise that we so much want and need. There is plenty to satisfy the pirate fans and audiences in this fantastical story, yet leaving space to expand backstories and spinoffs, favoring a series or a feature sequels franchise.
Beautiful pirate movie with a lot of action
Who doesn't like a pirate movie? Moreover, who doesn't like an evil sword movie that processes peoples minds? You get both in this one. This is a great concept and idea and can be easily developed into a show or a longer movie with a little move backstory and detail. It was fun to see a cross-over between 2 different worlds : modern and the age of pirates . I always wanted to see how would a pirate interact with modern day people . The open ending definitely gives you a feel that the story will continue( will not elaborate further to avoid spoilers. But, definitely give it a watch ! A good time movie filled with pirates !
Bring Back Great Pirate Films
I think actor A. J. Medina was born to play this role. Cinematography was on point. Great directing. I'm wanting to more about the story. Grab your popcorn and enjoy a good pirate film because we need more of them. Locations were a plus in the film. Shoutout to the musical score. The poster draws you in because that is something people should take pride in. It's sad when you see a movie put so much effort in the production that they forget about a great poster.
For the people in the back, I'll say it again:

3 Stars for Effort
Swashbuckler fan here. Bring on Erroll Flynn! I love adventure, sci-fi, and fantasy; however, I was not a fan of the PotC franchise.
We tried so hard to watch but tossed in the towel at 20 minutes. It was unbearable.
I have difficulty grasping the kudos and awards. The acting is pancake-flat. The concept is cool, but the script is stilted. The camera work is not bad.
Sorry, there was no swash in this buckle. The fight scene on the beach was ridiculous; like a drunk punch-and-roll. But when the blonde pirate is wearing pants with back pockets, belt loops, and a belt that looks like my husband's golf pants, we are off to a rough start.
Hard pass on this one.

Wasted 33 minutes of my life
This had a 15,000 dollar budget. What did they do with the other 14,800 dollars?
Let's be frank. It's awful. Really, really awful. They spent the 200 on Amazon buying fancy dress pirate costume. Low budget is no excuse. A low budget should make you inventive and creative. Fencing swords with the safety tips on? Ketchup stained rips on shirts with no related wounds underneath? Growled nonsensical dialogue? It's just unacceptable. It feels like it was made by people who don't like pirates as a genre. If this was a GCSE project, I'd give it a C. There is a twist in the tail though. Yeah? Whatever. Lame.
I have no acting, directing, script writing or costume experience but I could absolutely do better than this film in all those departments. Not subjective. Fact. I'm so annoyed by just how awful it is. Are you getting that?
