    What a shocker!

I was an adult in my 30's when this happened and I don't recall ever hearing about any of this. This guy was as bad as Hitler. A very amazing documentary and I;m sure an eye opener for many of us. It lost 2 stars on editing. I have no idea why in all these years when there's text put on screen that they don't put a black backgournd on it. Many times the white text was on a white background and it was impossible to read it and therefore lost some of the dialogue.

    Really worth your time.

Recent history should be watched. How could this happen?

Very engaging for anyone interested in history and courts

It's a great documentary. It's made in an European style where music is subdued, the camera gets to linger on the people involved a bit longer, and the drama is created by the real circumstances not created arbitrary by a producer. This may sound a bit slow-paced, but it's not at all. It's very engaging and it tells the stories of maybe 20 different people so it didn't got stale or predictable except for a part with a suffering daughter.

It's also very interesting to see how a court system works. Even though Ratko Mladic was tried for a genocide the defence team in this documentary is presented in a completely fair and unbiased way. There is little to no bias to be found in this documentary actually. A lead defense lawyer even gets to speak his mind about how awful it is to dig up old hurtful history memories. They let him just talk with no music or camera cutting. His point also ring true as we see that people still feel very sad and distraught about these events. Making it seem like some of these people have PTSD and actually do suffer due to recollection of events.

The defense does make some good points here and there that make some sense to me as a viewer who is "neutral". They also try to create stories about how the genocides could have taken place without Ratko Mladic knowing anything about them as they propose that regional forces just wanted revenge on Muslims and killed all those civilians by own volition. It reminds me a lot of the truly amazing documentary series, "The World at War". There Albert Speer looks just as innocent and likeable as everyone in this documentary as he claims that even though he was one of the guys top in line to take over if Hitler died, that he didn't know anything about the Final Solution.

Basically it's impossible to prove conclusively Speer or Mladic did anything. The conclusive evidence is just not shown in these documentaries. But the evidence is so substantial that any reasonable person would have a really hard time concluding anything else.

I strongly recommend checking this documentary out. It's relaxed while being informative. But of course it's nothing compared to the piece of art that is, "The Death of Yugoslavia".
