Shotgun Wedding

Shotgun Wedding is a perfectly fine action comedy that knows exactly what it is and is more than happy to coast by on the solid amount of chuckles, nice backdrop and predictability of its plot. It never gets a big laugh but is still generally entertaining enough to avoid becoming boring or overly stale. It's the kind of film designed for streaming, in an inoffensive way.

Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel work well enough together. Their chemistry is solid and they can keep things going on their rapport for the majority of the run time. Jennifer Coolidge gets the right amount of screen time so she can be a fun addition who stands out in every scene without becoming too much. She is pretty much the only other memorable person in the whole cast.

Jason Moore's direction is fine, helped by the tropical setting. There's only one memorable shot and everything else is competent with the classic tropes and jokes of an action comedy executed in a fun fashion. The best moments come from the rising body count and the way they are dispatched. Pinar Toprak's score has a lot of fun with it, ensuring the proceedings stay lighthearted.

This is no masterpiece of filmmaking but it is really fun to watch. It's okay that this movie isn't Oscar worthy. Some are just good romps.

The writing is good even though some jokes fall flat. The cinematography and editing and directing are top notch. And I absolutely needed to see so many older actresses with great comic timing: Sonia Braga, Jennifer Coolidge, D'arcy Carden.

There are plenty of great scenes and great pieces of dialogue and great performances so you can ignore the clunky, bad parts. This movie is definitely not a 10 but it's not a 5 either. 7 is my bottom rating for movies I think are watchable and fun. And this is one of those.

The story is predictable and not engaging; the numerous plot twists found throughout this film are just lame, incoherent and incomprehensible; and Jennifer Lopez showed us yet another of those damsels in distress who scream too much before ending up becoming badass.

But luckily, it compensates with being very funny, mocking some of the usual rom-com/action clichés and having some good (if not great) performances, especially that of Jennifer Coolidge as the groom's mother, who was just hilarious.

So overall, it's a decent movie, not horrible nor good. I had fun watching it, but not to rewatch it.

I don't get why all these new movies get so many 1/10 reviews. Like really, a 1 for this? The worst you've ever seen? It's like people forget Caddyshack 2 exists.

What kind of movie were people expecting from something titled, "Shotgun Wedding," anyway?! It's supposed to be stupidly funny, which it is. J-Lo isn't even bad, so everyone needs to relax. Her and Josh are pretty damn funny together. Lighten up, people!

Of course this wasn't the best comedy, but it was hilarious and entertaining... which I'm pretty sure was the goal! So if you just want to laugh and don't want anything serious, this is your flick!

It was something I put on for fun and I Honestly really liked it. Cast was great and you can tell they were having fun with it as well. I chuckled at parts and it wasn't as corny as some other recent comedies, same formula obviously but definitely different and enjoyable.

I am always looking for a light funny movie to watch during my work from home days. And this didn't disappoint. Jennifer Coolidge will steal any screen she's on. Definitely not sure boyfriends would like but I would imagine this will soar at any girls night you have coming up!

Lots of real funny jokes peppered throughput the crazy movie story, def throw it on!
