Lovely girl but ruins everything by painting beautiful wood in bilious colours. I wouldn't give her anything to upcycle. Ruined so many lovely things, particularly that old doll's house. Simon is brilliant and I like about 95% of his work. Henry focused too much on cars, bikes and tractors although I like what he does with things like old signs, petrol cans, etc. . Would love to see some old sofas and old chairs reupholstered and brought back to how they were originally. If I wanted wood painted in awful colours I would go to ~Ikea. I also cannot believe what they say they sell the items for. Most of them I wouldn't pay a fraction of the cost on.
I have just watched the recording of series 2 episode 16. The Harley barrels bedside lamps are the best lamps I have ever seen. If i saw them in a shop i would buy them. The military chest came out perfect too. Not sure about the lime green metal cabinet though. I love watching the shows as I have recycled a couple of items. I hope there are many more series to come. I didn't like the mirror though. Your required characters s a lot at 600. Don't
know what else to write. Why do you have to have the voice over and 'coming up' at the break. Don't need to watch to the end of the programme as you have shown the outcomes! Regards Marilyn.
These guys turn up some quirky and interesting items for upcycling.
Their ideas are often very good, and similarly the results, but there's no way in 21st century UK that those results could be seriously achieved at their declared costs.
The outlays they claim to have spent are just plain ridiculous, and that sadly undermines that whole idea of the programme.
The achievements remain worthwhile even if the format is badly flawed.
I like this, I feel sorry for Simon sometimes because he sees the real beauty in an object and Gemma comes along with her bloody emulsion and pastel colours and spoils it. The beautiful old dolls house, Georgian looking house with old furniture. They had so many lovely wooden models and she painted them. MY GOD my mum did that in the 1960s and ruined so many antiques. At least they had an excuse it was after the war and they wanted colour because the conscription furniture was so dull. Anyway him and Henry have me in stitches. I've loved Simon since he was on Brookside and to see him do well with property and so on is a joy. Sadly Gemma looks like 1980s Debbie who was Simon's love interest when they were together in Damon and Debbie. So there! Tell us if it comes back with these lot make sure she's not let loose on something like that again. She is so selfish she wanted it how she liked it and took about a grand off the value. She's done it loads. They make mistakes that's the fun but she needs to stop it. Oh and I'm an artist too a real one so I know what I'm talking about LOL.
This started off as a really good, entertaining program but over time, most of the "fixes" seem to end up as either lamps or tables. It is still entertaining to watch with very likeable presenters but it's got quite predictable and tiresome.
