  • Not the best movie of the series BUT...

Can you imagine trying to resurrect your character from the mothballs after three years and after you have played other characters, and maybe you even thought your character was dead! PLUS you gained fourteen pounds since you last played yourself (your movie "self").

That's a lot to bring back to the fore. Well, I think they did a pretty good job even if this movie didn't quite evoke the emotions the others have. I usually have to drink lots of water during these movies (keeps me from swallowing my tongue, big lumps in my throat, during the really emotional parts!)

Anyway, we, my Bride (of forty years) and I, enjoyed the movie. We had (intentionally) JUST finished watching all the others in order, including the TV series, so that we could keep the flow as we saw this one.

As I said, this one didn't draw out the emotions as well as the others but it was REALLY cool to have all the characters back! They grow on you!

The cutest couple, IMO, is still Rita and Norman! The most romantic couple is still Ovilear (thanks to Ramon) and Ms McCinerney (sp). ("Vows" was disappointing when Oliver called his new Bride "Ms Mckinerny". Are they married or not?! Maybe it will forever be his nickname for her?)

Anyway, it was somewhat entertaining to see newlyweds learning how to live together under one roof: an OCD neatnik and a SLOB clash for MONTHS before they get their act together. (This is so real! Happens to the best of us. Learning to live under one roof is one of the greatest accomplishments in marriage, ESPECIALLY when, in some areas, we are polar opposites. Well done Hallmark!)

I am hoping this movie is not "the End"! SSD is my fave series from Hallmark. My Bride has others as well. Clean entertainment, some modern, some not so.

One thing that bugs me. Not about this movie. Saw a profile on IMDb about one of the actors in this film, a MALE one, who, as far as I know only PLAYS male characters, and the staff referred to HIM as "THEM" and "THEY"!!! Give me a break! You're gonna lose me IMDb.

  • No Wonder it got poor reviews among critics

Okay, so I'm looking at IMdB score and see that it is far below what I would have and have given it. Having watched the film with my wife, who didn't cringe one time or have to block her ears or vision because of offensive content, I KNOW why the critics HATE this movie: no sex or full-frontal nudity or blasphemy or f-bombs or crude sexual jokes... and the devil isn't some medieval gargoyle beast with horns and tail and razor sharp teeth! Not your typical horror film with blood and guts and body parts flung at people or the camera! And the bad guy, he seems to be a really nice, caring guy who just wants the "best" for you, for him, uh.

Oh, and the BIGGEST NEGATIVE with the critics, whether they are honest about it or not: there's a FAITH ELEMENT, NOT in Man but in the Supreme Being and His Son! GASP! We can't HAVE that in a film that is to be taken seriously!!! NOT ON THE BIG SCREEN!!! NO WAY!!! So, we gotta find ways to tear the film down without being HONEST about it! We can't let on that we HATE GOD and His Son!

So, what did I see? I saw a man struggle with his faith, his LIFE, his marriage, his job... EVERYTHING! He "had it all", LOST it all, tried to FIND his life and return to it. And he had to deal with selfishness versus selflessness. And he grew in the process!

Not your typical sci-fi or romance movie, but a very good one! How do you put the life of an ancient historical man on the big screen in a way that appeals to most? I think they did well! I will buy this movie on DVD when its available. It will likely be an addition to films for around Easter... see the film and you might understand why.

  • Do all cameramen go to "Camera Jerk School"?

First of all, I'm gonna get this off my chest. I HATE THE MOVING CAMERA SYNDROME!!! That's NOT what "Movies" MEANS!!! ARGH!!!

Creators of cameras created anti vibration tech so that when you are taking a picture/moving picture the lens compensates!!! NOW they PURPOSELY DEFEAT the anti vibration by JERKING the cameras all over the place! This is so stupid!!! Bad enough when they jerk the camera around to simulate earthquakes, but when no "earthquakes" are happening it's DOUBLY stupid!

THIS IS TERRIBLE! I'm watching the movie right now! ARGH!!!

Other than the CAMERA JERKS, it's a half-way decent movie. I don't know the science so I can't comment on it! This is FANTASY! Fantasy has been part of Sci-Fi from day one. So-called "science" has been along side fantasy all along. That's why they CALL it "Sci-Fi", as in Science Fiction.

But fiction is a part of life and people believe fiction every day, but I'm not gonna wax political...
