  • Pretty Ridiculous

This movie is cringe-worthy. The characters are unrealistic and none of them are likable. THey are confused characters who are poorly developed. I can't decide if the acting was bad or the characters were just written terribly. I do however like the concept. It has a lot of potential. A movie about a couple wanting to get pregnant to get money for selling the baby and a couple who wants a baby so badly they will do anything for it— even resorting to conning their baby mama. Two couples whose desperation blurs their morals. SOund like an awesome concept that could be turned into an awesome, twisted horror flick. It could be like one of those scary movies that are genuinely good and interesting, with more depth to them than your average scary flick in which the sole purpose is to scare the nuts out of you instead of tell a story. However, this film was executed poorly. While it was clever for the main actress to be looking back at the story, I thought the man she was hitchhiking with was not a big enough apart of the film. He should have been a bigger part or not a part at all. It was awkward. And then there's the ending... which is just makes me feel like watching the film was a waste of time. They were going one way and then went a whole other direction at the end. There is a twist though that is pretty cool if you figure it out!

  • Feel Good and Quirky

The Oh in Ohio is a good, fun, and light movie. It doesn't go very far, but it manages to entertain for the duration of the film. While The OH in OHio is about some scandalous things : masturbation and mistresses among other sex related things, it manages to keep it silly and avoids cringe-worthy scenes. Dare I say that it wouldn't be that bad if you watched with your parents. The actors help keep the film afloat. Paul Rudd is his usual awkward and low-key comical self, while Parker Posey, the master of quirky, also gives me a good laugh. Her character is super endearing, innocent and sweet. Then there's Danny DeVito who plays the male version of Parker Posey's character. And finally, Mischa Barton brings a little oomph, a little scandal and a little sex to it all. There is very little conflict in this film, which isn't a bad thing. It is refreshing as it seems that the film is not trying too hard to take its viewer on a roller coaster in attempts to keep them constantly entertained. Therefore, if you are looking for something upbeat, not too intense and that defines one meaning of love and identity then this is your movie!

  • A failing school tries to make a comeback

Lower Learning is pretty funny, pretty cute and the kids in the film are awesome and adorable. If you like low-brow, feel good, quirky, maybe dumb-at-times movies then you will like Lower Learning. It is an easy watch that will make you laugh out loud a few times. All the characters, especially the kids and Rob Corddry are great. They are strong and each have a funny tid bit about them. While I don't care for Jason Briggs he didn't annoy or bother me in this film. Eva Longoria plays the inspector who has a weakness for any 'light' drug. You get to see Eva doing whip-its, which, let's face it, is funny. What else is always funny? Kids doing and saying adult things. Lower Learning is kind of like an extremely crude, not for kids version of Little Rascals and the Kindergarten Cop. It ends up being just as sweet and endearing, with an important message even if presented in a silly, maybe disturbing, way.
