This popped up on my feed so I decided to give it a whirl. I was surprised at the celebrities in the squares and was looking forward to some fun questions. But--the host is so truly obnoxiously annoying that I could not get past the first 5 minutes. He sounds like a character out of an animated cartoon show. I suspect his street laguage is an act, which in itself is ok,but...I think his regular voice would be a better fit. Also, I know the celebrities get the answers and also get some funny lines to say, yet these are too blatantly staged. One thing I DO like-the comfy chairs they give the celebrities to lounge in. That is a new idea and it works. I would say--watch it and see if you can stomach the ost. If you cam, it might be a fun watch.
The trailer was somehwat cute, and fun. I have liked Eddie Murphy in many projects over the years, including Coming 2 America. (after watiching it again, I saw some more fun elements). This project is a disappointment. I really tried to make it through, but had to fast forward to the dismal, predictable ending. Hey, I know that holiday movies have happy conclusions, so that was not the main challenge. The main challeges included- poor script, miscast actors, terrible cgi and Eddie Murphy himself. I like Traci Ellen Ross, however, she is wasted here. Maybe she should have been the lead istead. No, it is simply a poor project idea, with poor execution, start to finish. Skip it.
When I heard about Almost Paradise, I admit I watched it mainly because of the creator, Dean Devlin. Once I saw the first episode, I relaxed into the fun.
I really appreciate the location. Seeing all of the wonder of the locale is super nice and I am learning more with each episode. Christian Kane is more than a hoot and takes right into his role--again. There are many new faces- new to me, that is--and I enjoy each one. Almost Paradise is one of those rare shows that brings me to a new place without knocking me over the head. Everything is natural- yet new and exciting. The storyline and plots are fast moving fun.
I am so happy I took a chance on a new show, that is now solidly on my watch list!
