  • Excellent thought-provoking documentary

Thought-provoking and quite honest film about the journey of former White Supremacist/Neo-Nazi Tony McAleer's radicalized into the White Supremacy/Neo-Nazi movement and deliverance from it. He not only talks about the murders of six million Jewish people through Hitler's "final solution" but points out the murders of five million persons from groups Hitler considered "undesirables" that many people are unaware of. These murdered persons included homosexuals and people of particular political parties or religions. It is unavoidably extremely graphic in the various scenes and descriptions of the brutal procedures and actions of the Nazis at the Auschwitz and Birkenau killing camps. This documentary was above and beyond what I expected. I have no criticisms of the documentary itself but only wish closed captions had been provided as some of the speech was difficult to understand even after listening several times.

  • So, so many holes...

This movie attempts to bring a positive message and does succeed in bringing a positive message of compassion, courage, perseverance, forgiveness & perhaps more. If you can overlook the holes in the story then, overall, there is a good message here. Definitely room for improvement though...A woman dies in childbirth and no explanation is given initially as to what happened to the baby; then, SURPRISE! Suddenly the baby you weren't told anything about appears! The progression of this movie is very awkward. There would be no possible way that people who live in Joan's home would not find out after months of living there that Tina is Joan's daughter and what, in the first place would be the reason for attempting to even keep that a secret? Nor is it ever acknowledged or referred to in any way that Joan wanted to keep it secret that Tina was her daughter. Good message but certain aspects of story not thought through well.

  • Accent difficult to understand. No closed captions either.

I have normal hearing. I can hear and make out everything every one else is saying except for actor John Diehl. John Diehl plays the role of slave master, Master Anderson. Maybe because of his accent in the film but with no closed captions available, I don't want to watch it now knowing I won't be able to make out what one of the main characters is saying. Closed captions serve more purposes other than just making a movie accessible for the deaf or hard of hearing population. But, also, I think it is shameful when movies are made without making it so the deaf can also watch it. It is NOT inclusive of our hearing-challenged population.
