First off, I don't know the coach or what his plan was, if any. Sometimes using the squad approach can be a decent approach.
A couple times in the movie there were indications that he was doing that. One group to soften an opponent while expecting losses followed by another group that were tight knitted to go in for the kill.
Regardless, these are 5th graders and the words you use around them matter deeply. Even if a player is a godson you need to be careful with the words you use.
A coach is not there just to win a game but to win in life. Kids flourish with positive reinforcement and understanding.
In this case, if the coach had sought mental health therapy it would have benefited not just the coach but the kids too.
Watch it to understand.

Director Sok ChanradoKongkea Vann and
writer Kongkea Vann short film Somleng reatrey (Sound of the Night) created a very thoughtful movie with the main actors Long Meach and Mony Ros, along with Lina Ry that has all the elements needed for a feature film.
The challenges of city life in emerging nation where the goals in life for some are based on money.
How some are trapped into race for cash while some people are aware of the negative side of that and deal with it on their own terms.
Worth the 19 minutes but I warn you will want more.

I greatly appreciated this movie. It was a behind the scenes look of some of what it takes to get a play into production and the efforts it takes to cope or handle the drama that also go along with it as well.
I did not realize how many movies John Turturro directed but as I checked later this is only one of three I have not seen.
It wa really fun to watch when multiple vignettes took place as well usually about either love, desire, deception, or just plain lust.
I agree with the comments left from cowboy-27 on Aug 14, 1999 this is a movie worth watching and re-watching.
