  • A Whole New Level

Brent is a total lowlife. Like Josh Gaines, he comes from entitled privilege. In a way, Brent Davick was even worse. When you look at the Josh Gaines/Jenna situation, one can argue that the relationship had already run its course and Josh was simply too dumb to know it. I don't see any evidence of them having done any drugs or drinking. His obvious question: what made Jenna lose attraction to him in the first place. Was Monica's real problem that Josh was not spending enough money on dates? Brent Davick, however, was a complete psychopath. Even Josh Gaines would not have descended this low, drugging someone.

  • A few things

The first thing I thought of with the Ned and Lana Ravine narrative was a question: why couldn't Ned and Lana Ravine simply get a divorce? The second thing is that I opine that he is more of a lawyer than a cop. The first thing that leads me to is I think that he took the police job for the present, to get him through law school and so he can collect a steady pension when he retires and the law firm gig is for the future/posterity--once he retires he will make his law job his main gig and pass his practice down to his child(ren) and when that time comes, they can pass it down to their child(ren). Another thing this leads me to is that I can see Ned becoming an advocate: a sensitivity counselor; prison reform or offering services for sex workers to get out of the game/rehab for drug charges (moreover, he would advocate for drug court) and pre-trial diversion programs. The social-worker approach would suit him very well.

Finally and not exclusively to the first one, he may run for political office or become a judge himself (possibly a district attorney) while his family run his law firm. He could become comptroller or Mayor of LA and progress from there. Alternatively, he could join the FBI.

  • The main point

The thread that suggests that the family hated Meredith states a good point. Everett's left brain is saying "This girl is a bad match; she is trouble". The fact that another thread that suggests Everett is boring may point to his lack of game but that is irrelevant. The left and right brains could not agree about her. When ellysway stated that Everett did not love her, be that as it may, the best reply is that it is exactly the way Meredith feels about him. If that is true, at least they are emotionally on the same page. Regardless, Sybil's real concern was that Everett would be miserable and if they did marry, it would end badly. She would always put her career first. By putting her own needs before Everett, he will always be second fiddle and will grow to resent that. He would feel neglected. Therefore, it was better to end things sooner rather than later when it would be messier. Everett needed to see clearly that there cannot be a future with Meredith.
