  • FINALLY !!

Iread the book, I'm a Takeshi Kitano fan.. and I finally sw the movie.. Now Kurt Kanazawa intepretation of Takeshi Kitano is sooo good... It's o soulful and Kitano-esque, that the movie could have been him just sitting on a bench and I would have loved it.

REAL CHARASMATIC !! Really .. But the movie was good, I'm not gonna go over the plit but if you ike Kitano, This movie is not to miss.

  • Perfect- exceeded my expectations

Perfect, Perfect , Perfect depiction of the start of RAP in the bronx. Having, been younger in those days and leaving in the east coast. People like granmaster Flash, Kool Herc, etc.. They were the people you'd daydream about, without really knowing anything about them (pre-internet). Now, the way, the show goes on, it shows all these persona's as seen through the eyes-of fresh young dudes. Example-the way-Shaolin fantastic is represented-how they focus on his red pumas--and how the kids talk about him "His hands are samurai swords". This is the way, anybody who was there(youngins)-remember that time. Now, some people say It's not gritty (If you want gritty-see Sin HOMBRE), the whole point of rap, was that in was against violence- so, it actuality, this is the memory that will have stayed with the youth, more than the violence-the media loves to OFFICIALLY potray as a BRONX staple. Now, the director is Baz Luhrman, and man, did he potray the music in the most perfect way, the way he could parallelly show some rap group trying to rap, and and the same time a disco pre-queen singining. No, other director could have really showed the music so finely as Baz. If you want nitty -gritty streets-watch the Warriors. If you're genuinely interested in RAP the beginnings, before Gangster rappers. Then run and watch this.

  • After reading the book(s)..the movie was disappointing

When I read the books (the wolf., and Catching the wolf) I remember thinking this would be a great Scorsese movie, even before I knew he was gonna make it. The first book especially has Scorsese written all over it. Now, I understand fully, the way some characters are missing, etc.. So, that's not my complain. My complain is that Jordan Belfort like Henry Hill are "lovable" cause they are you average low-lifes who end up with lots of money. So, they border on the cool side..But you get the feeling their coolness has a time clock and it's gonna end soon. In the movie goodfellas you get that feeling, and the book 'Wolf' you get that same feeling from Jordan. I love DiCaprio (I think in movies like Departed he oozes charisma, and in "Total Eclipse" He IS RIMBAUD, as I've always imaged him-freaking flawless performance). But in this one, it seems he's playing Belford (60%) of the time and the other 40% he's just being himself. I found it an Empty performance. Maybe he had to many 'yes-man' around, and he lost it. Albeit, the movie was funny in bits. But overall I found it empty. The book was more gritty, the depraved Chinaman was a despicable characters. In every Bo Dielt scene you could smell that Scorsese's new york. In the movie he appears in one fast scene. The racist limo driver was fun. In the movie the only one that shines is Jonah Hill(I was very, very, very, very surprised..I think HE should have won best supporting actor. What a good actor). So, If you've read the book..then don't believe the hype and go see it without expecting much.
