This might well be the BEST episode of BatB I've seen so far ~ excellent new direction ~ tantalizing mythology ~ killer pace ~ gripping action sequences and the Beast FX ~ scary good! The cherry on top? Vincent and Catherine's achingly angsty encounters as they attempt to reconnect with each other after their heartbreaking separation last season. As always I am floored by Vincent and Cat's intense chemistry which leaves me breathless and wanting more of them each time. Never have I enjoyed a season premiere so much which is evidenced by a personal record of some 100+ tweets from me today when this episode aired. Who Am I appears to have found its identity in the seasoned hands of new show runner Brad Kern who also wrote this wonderful season opener. BatB is packing so much heart and heat that I'm chomping at the bit for next week's episode and wanting many more seasons of this unique love story to enjoy.
I have never been so invested in a TV show right from the very 1st episode and for that I must thank the perfect casting of the leads. Kristin Kreuk whom I noticed in Smallville but didn't watch is such a gorgeous fiesty little firecracker of a heroine and is a wonderfully appealing Catherine (and this coming from someone who rarely roots for any female characters) ~ she looks fragile but kicks major butt. Go Kristen! Her chemistry with the Beast, oh and what a fine Beast of a man Jay Ryan makes as Vincent just sets my screen on FIRE every time they get hot and steamy. (Bless the Writers) Vincent is the FULL package as the reluctant hero ~ tortured compelling dangerous yet so lovable with Cat. (cue *SWOON*) Definitely the BEST "bad boy" with a heart of gold that I love seeing on my screen and dream of seeing outside my bedroom window. The Beast's loyal sidekick is comically and fabulously played by Austin Basis who has the best LOL oneliners on the show. I must also give a shoutout to the gorgeous Brit, Max Brown who played "the other man" Evan, with charisma and bravery. (You will be missed!) BATB has SO much HEART AND HUMOR but at the end of it all it's just a good ol fashioned LOVE STORY and a cool fresh remake of the old series. Thank you CW. More power to BATB ~ I'm a Beastie for life ♥ Rating ~ a SOLID 9. The only reason I am not giving it a 10 (yet!) is because little things like Cat's cop partner having a thing with the boss just takes away precious screen time from my lovely VinCat and Cat's sister is a silly airhead I could happily do without.
