  • Fear or Affection

This is a short film that expresses two features of children. It is innocence and cruelness. The child who loves his teacher gives ring to her. However, she is engaged to another man. The boy makes up his mind to duel with teacher's intended. I am impressed by this film deeply. However I don't want to see it again. I felt that the boy's eye was very frightening. The actions and words of children are innocent. Therefore, adults are afraid of them. Adults also frightened that penetrated into their inner motive by children. It has been nominated for the Best Live Action Short Academy Award. This film has certain energy. I want you feel this energy too. Do you feel fear or affection from the boy? If you feel fear, you may already became adult. You should deal with children sincerely, or you may be penetrated into your mind by them possibly.

  • Exhilarating

This is a very exhilarating film. The setting of the story is restaurant in the station. The old woman who missed the train takes a lunch in the restaurant. However, a black big man came appeared in that place…

You should check alternation of the character's mood when you see this film. The irritated old lady became calm gradually. The black man seems overbearing at first. However, as the story progress, he seems to be the man who is full of charm. When the movie was over, you must like the black man. I think the short friendship between the old lady and the black man is very beautiful and stylish. The most important point of this film exists at the end of it. If you see this film until the last scene, you can be in very refreshing mood. Although it is short, I think that it is fine and humorous.

  • Dawn of the CG animation

This is the early work of Pixar Animations Studio in 1989 (It was not under Disney's umbrella). Perhaps you may have seen this film once because it screened with famous Finding Nemo. The storyline of Knick-Knack is very simple. It is comedy story which a snowman in a glass dome fights desperately for his freedom. There is an unexpected ending in this film.

Perhaps, you may feel a little cheapness for its computer graphics than todays Pixar's animation. However, it is a work of 1989. Pixar's technique must stand conspicuously above the other CG studios. I feel that the expression of water in this film is very beautiful. The unique humor of Pixar exists from 1989 too.

Today youcan see various CG films made by Pixar Studio or Dreamworks SKG. If you see Knick-Knack, you may able to find efforts of CG producers. I hope advance of technique of CG animations forever.
