  • Empathy

Empathy is what it takes to watch this heart wrenching yet heartwarming tale of a familiar truth that rings true to so many people. There is generational trauma that cripples families for hundreds of years, until one brave bad a$$ unassuming individual decides to break the cycle of abuse and trauma for themselves and all the new generations to come. If you only watch movies to get something out of them for yourself then find a different movie and don't chastise a very really issue that is beyond prevalent in the world. Love and prayers for all those that are unable to see the depth and beauty in this film.

  • It got me

Not many movies get me to cry but this one, surprisingly, moved me and resonated within me. I think many women will connect with the characters that are superbly acted. No matter what your hardships and tragedies are in this life, we are all "American women" trying to do our best and love others to the best of our ability. It will hopefully connect to your soul in the way it did mine. Humbly we all must remember, we never know what is going on in the lives of others and building other women up is a message that this movie truly represents and reawakened for me and hopefully it will for others too. It is a far cry from a lifetime-type-movie. Not that those are bad but by some of the reviews and descriptions I want to make certain it is not misconstrued. The acting is stellar the metaphors and irony are woven together deeply and beautifully.

  • Artfully portraying truth and hope

Not your typical addiction drama based on a true story, this is deeper and artfully done. Depicting what it is REALLY like inside a women's mind who is in crippling addiction with almost no resources. This captured a different authentic view to the struggle, hopelessness and up hill daily battle it takes to get out of a situation that you had little to no fault being in, in the first place. This is not the usual outcome for most but there is hope for a blessed few that can find the strength within and beat the odds. Truth and hope are two of the hardest things to grasp when getting clean. The feeling of unworthiness, nothingness and loneliness were visceral thorough-out this movie. Anyone that has addiction touching their life in any way shape or form (at this point in the epidemic that should be everyone) sit down watch this movie and keep it at the core of the way you filter your thinking about addicts and most specifically female addicts.
