  • The Joker's Hard Times

The Joker leaves the Dynamic Duo to their demise. Tied to the Meteorite Thermite Death Trap. Of course Batman escapes with the aid of his batarang.

The Joker still complies with his daring thefts based on the signs of the zodiac.

Libra, the scales of justice. He knicks the statue of justice outside of Gotham City Police Headquarters.

There is a breakthrough of a sorts for Batman. Venus defects from the Joker but she is now out of the clowning villain's clutches for long.

Once again another villainess moll repents. You have to hand it to the Joker, he keeps this episode fun with the Penguin very much relegated.

Jessica Fletcher is on jury duty. The defendant is Mark Reynolds (Tony Bill) who is involved in a car accident which seriously injured his wife.

Instead of staying with his wife in hospital, Mark goes to a bar and gets involved with Becky Anderson. He ends up at her home later on.

It seems later on, after a tip off. Becky's estranged husband Cliff Anderson walked in on them. Mark killed him in self defence.

Initially the jury are in a majority to acquit Mark. Jessica Fletcher is undecided while two think he is guilty. One of them Thornton Bentley played by Brock Peters, who was the defendant in the film adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird.

These kind of episodes easily can become a rehash of 12 Angry Men.

Trial by Error has a twist or two that Agatha Christie would be proud of.

Tony Bill who plays Mark Reynolds is unusual. Like Michael Douglas, he is an actor who won an Oscar for producing. Tony Bill produced the classic movie The Sting.

  • The Cattle Drive

There is an improvement as Richard Shelton is not in it as much.

Instead the intrigue and cunning is shown by Mistress Hatch who tries to get Joanna Sedley to escape from prison.

She persuades the guard at the door that Sir Daniel Brackley looks to be on the losing side in the War of the Roses.

Richard Crookback will look favorably on anyone who helped Joanna to escape. She is his kin.

However Sir Daniel is no pushover and a dagger is not well hidden.

Although there is a plot here it still comes across as daft. Sir Daniel's men find the dagger quickly.

Could Joanna and Mistress Hatch not even hide it properly, if so what was the point in taking it!
