Episode 4 ends with the mysterious sith appering in front of our hero group of Jedi, and attacking them.
I was expecting Episode 5 to start with a short explanation that they don't know who it was, and it wanished quickly.... But luckily, that wasn't the case! This episode continued with this Sith's fight with the Jedi, and it included some deaths as well - once again, raising the stakes for this show. The reveal of the identity of the Sith didn't come as a surprise, but that's not really a problem. I'd rather take a logical but expected twist, than an illogical unexpected one.
The planet where the story takes place looked visually great, and I loved that the creators of the show allowed us an episode in the middle of the series where so many confrontations could happen - phsysically and emotionally.
I get that not everyone likes this series, but I do. I think this episode made the previous ones a worth watch, and I can't wait to see what will happen in the remaining episodes.

Sadly, I knew people would dislike the movie, ever since the first trailer popped in, and it got all the negative comments.
First of all, about this "white washing": ancient Egyptians were not black. Not white either, but not black. And does it really a problem? Did the performance of Laurence Olivier as Othello (a character who IS black) bothers anyone? No. The director of Gods of Egypt is Alex Proyas, who was born in Egypt. I guess he was well aware of his country's history when he made the casting choices. And he has the right to choose anyone he wants. He is the director. Not the director of a documentary or a drama that's based on a true story. He is the director of a fantasy movie. Yes, the mythology has been around for thousands of years, but it's still a fantasy movie where Horus and other gods exist. None of this happened, so no one should look for historic accuracy. Let's move on.
I felt this movie is like Clash of Titans or Prince of Persia. It's not flawless. It's absolutely forgettable. It's 15 minutes longer than it should be. The CGI (when Horus and Seth transformed) is cartoonish. BUT: It's entertaining! The production design and the cinematography is great! I've always loved the Egyptian myth, and I was glad to see this movie's world was creative and visually great to look at. The music is solid. I liked the actors and their characters. For me, Chadwick Boseman had the best part in the movie. Minor role, but I loved every second of it. And I liked that neither of the main heroes is a comic relief.
Yes, the script was not the best, but I've seen some blockbusters in the past one year (like Mad Max: Fury Road, Furious 7, etc.) that were loved by critics and viewers but had no superior script.
Once again, GODS OF Egypt is not for everyone, but it is for some. I didn't regret I watched it.

I'm afraid after many delays and with a February release date in the US, this would flop. I would understand it in a way. It looks like a cheap B-movie. And a B-movie it is: offers nothing new, nothing special, it exists only to entertain. And you know what? I LOVE that. I'm THAT kind of person.
Despite it is based on a book, the story is so average it hurts. And while the characters are also clichéd, at least they have some flesh, thanks to the actors and the director.
It has some nice monster action set pieces and the pace moves in a good fashion. While its production cost is nowhere to the likes of a Hobbit movie, the effects are great and I was very surprised that the 3D actually worked.
My advise: If you want an experience like the Hobbit or the Harry Potter movies, don't watch this. But if you like fantasy movies like Willow or Dragonheart (and maybe Stardust), give it a chance.
