Superman (2025) is a pretty good movie. It isn't great, but good. Its strength is in making Superman the same character we have known for decades, more so than other recent incarnations. It is like watching Christopher Reeve again, and that is always good. They played with the origin story, but in an interesting way, and if you can be interesting, you can be forgiven. The story itself isn't perfect and has plenty of holes. At the same time, some of those holes nod back to the Reeve films.
I was just really worried about the dog being in the movie from the time I saw the first trailer. How were they going to justify Krypto being there? It was already silly from the comics, and it seemed like it was going to be a ridiculous plot point. Then, no spoilers, they explained it, and it was pretty awesome.

"Flow" is a wonderful movie, perfectly entertaining for children, but maybe even more powerful for adults. The story has immense depth (no pun intended) and the amount of character you see in these animals is amazing. What struck me the most was how the animals are not given human characteristics. The cat thinks and behaves like a cat. The dog is so very much a dog. The same is true for the lemur, the capybara, and the bird. It is so unique to see this in a film about animals. Even popular animal documentaries often anthropomorphize the subjects.
This may seem like a small point, but in fact much of the plot centers around the natural tendencies of each species. How those tendencies can be both strengths and limitations is key to the story, and overcoming the limitations is key to the final act and really the entire point of the movie. In telling a story about animals being exactly what they are, the filmmakers appear to be telling us a lot about ourselves.
There are also some interesting mysteries in "Flow", and you will come away wondering about things like where the people went and what in the world happened to that bird. It looks like we will each have to figure out those answers for ourselves. That too can be a good thing. I rarely find a movie that I would call a 10, but this is one of those times.

Your emotions should not control you. That is what growing up is about, and that is what this movie is about. Inside Out 2 does get that point across, extremely well, and with a compelling and relatable story. It is of course, a sequel. It does, in fact, continue the original story, picking very nearly where the previous movie left off.
The original Inside out, while in development, was planned as a movie that takes you inside the human mind. The original did that, and mental health professionals often lauded that movie for its depiction of the young human mind. Inside Out 2 continues that experience, taking you inside the mind of the mind as it transitions from child into emerging adult. That the filmmakers again consulted professionals is obvious, because the story is so relatable to so many, and captures the complexity of the emotional battle we all experience. The result is an experience that plucks at the strings of your own emotions (nostalgia included). If you were not as impressed, then Inside Out 2 and Ennui might just tell you why too.
