First, when I heard of a reboot of the Spiderman franchise,I was scared would it turn out to be disappointing, as I hated the third installment of Sam Raimi trilogy. After getting mixed responses, I was nervous to watch the movie. But after watching, I understood that people are still stuck with the old trilogy and couldn't accept anything new. It was so awesome that I gave a standing ovation to the movie.First of all, talking about Andrew Garfield. This is the version of Spidey that we have seen in the comics, and Garfield had portrayed it with utter brilliance. I mean, he was living, not acting. And the great Lizard, of course. This would be the most wicked portrayal of any Spidey villain in movies after Doc Ock and Electro. I liked the new design. And I forgot to mention,I love the new Spidey outfit!Talking about VFX,I thought that swinging scenes were actually shot,it felt so real that we feel the dynamics of the two characters(Spidey and Lizard),especially the scene where we are introduced to the web slinger, where we feel like we are swinging across the streets of New York along with him.And the story was also great.I liked the action scenes, because they were in appropriate places. Even though the running time is shorter compared to previous installments,I loved it so much. This would be the darkest portrayal of the web slinger ever done in celluloid!
I watched this movie in theatre with no big expectations. But this movie turned out to be one of my favorite movies of 2012.
About the story , it is a usual story but newcomer Srinath Rajendran has made it interesting and really entertaining. The twist at the end was great .
About acting , Dulquer Salmaan , the son of superstar Mammotty , has done an excellent job as Lalu alias Harilal , which is quite strange for a debut performance . Sunny Wayne has also done a good job.
I felt the music was quite average but it is entertaining.
VERDICT: An entertaining crime drama with excellent performances from the cast .
