First, I dislike New York and avoided it whenever possible. Second, I am hugely disappointed in 'The Guilded Age.' I was excited to try it when I learned it was a product of Julian Fellows. Unfortunately, we made it about half way through Episode One. If asked, I would have suggested that the script quietly ease into the old NY vs. New money NY obnoxious behavior with a much more subtle approach. Maybe a Brit writing about NY society wasn't such a good idea. I am a Southerner, and my family arrived in Virginia in 1626. Thankfully they eventually headed South instead of North. Thank God for small favors. Why would we enjoy obnoxious behavior? We could go to Florida and see the real thing from the transplants spreading their warm and friendly personalities live. Could easily have been done better, if at all.
We decided not to finish Episode One at about half way through. Why would we enjoy the offense behavior and expect more throughout.
I was bored and offended by the offensive personalities that jumped from the screen.

'Safe' started off quite good, but it was a couple of episodes too long. In later episodes it also became (or evolved) entirely too complicated to the point that I began to lose interest and just wanted it to end.
The acting was good, the scenes were well done, and the overall quality was very good. It just had too many twists and turns. I would have cleaned up the script, cut out some of the bit players, and tightened up the action. Sometimes a lot is just too much. So cutting to six episodes instead of eight would have required cleaning out a lot of meaningless fat in the script.

This movie was okay. It wasn't polished, the actors weren't the usual slicked down Hollywood with 5 coats of makeup, thankfully. The story was fine, and it was refreshing to watch. UNTIL the movie just ended without a conclusion. I looked it up because I thought it might be a series or mini movie, but there was no second episode. So weird, and so frustrating.
Therefore, I gave it a rating of '1' and suspect Prime did something wrong in ending it before the ending. Otherwise it would merit a '6' because I rather enjoyed it.
