  • The Untold post war story

We've all heard about the horrors committed by Russian soldiers during and after World War II. The brutal mass rapes, even of Jewish women hiding in Germany. There was no sense of honor in their actions. They acted more like predators than soldiers. And disturbingly, similar behavior is still being reported today in Ukraine.

What truly shocked me in this documentary, though, were the stories that rarely get told. Civilians torturing and killing children like they were nothing more than animals. I expected to hear about things like beatings, public humiliation, or maybe the destruction of ethnic German homes. But the cruelty described here is beyond anything I could have imagined.

The testimonies from survivors are absolutely gut wrenching. Even decades later, the trauma is still raw, like it all happened just yesterday. This isn't an easy documentary to sit through. You need to brace yourself because it's heavy, disturbing, and unforgettable.

  • Great Series, Bad Casting

The casting in this series was disappointing from the very beginning. Both Ripley and Dickie appeared significantly older than their actual ages, looking like they were in their 50s. Although Dakota Fanning is 30, she appears much younger, around 24, which made her seem out of place among the cast. The decision to cast Sting's daughter as Freddie was confusing, as it took me a while to realize she was meant to portray a male character. This casting choice left me feeling bewildered, almost as if the production was trying to gaslight me into thinking that she was a man. The cinematography was stunning, though the abundance of cat scenes felt excessive. Despite these issues, I found the series enjoyable and would rate it a 7.5.

  • Bit dull and sloppy

As an Argentine, I was naturally curious about this story. I recently finished watching the final episode, although I wasn't particularly eager to do so. While the narrative seemed accurate, it struggled to deliver a compelling tale, and the timeline felt disorganized. Some actors delivered outstanding performances, such as Mr. Zorreguieta. However, I found the casting of Maxima to be a misstep. Delfina Chaves portrayed her more like a perpetually out of place, hungover party girl, not particularly a classy, responsible financier like Maxima herself . The prince's performance was acceptable, albeit somewhat bland, and their on screen chemistry felt forced. The cinematography was impressive, locations were not real. The quality of the episodes varied significantly , some were engaging, while others were quite dull. Although a second season is planned, I suspect I'll forget about this series within a week.
