I'm a big Ethan Hawke fan and I think he really shines in scary flicks. Sinister was creepy and original so I wasn't sure what to expect from the sequel.
I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed how this followed on from the first. I love the character of the deputy played by James Ransone and the rest of the cast was just as strong.
What also helped hold this movie together for me was the way they continued the style of the 'home movies' and the fact that they bough to life the characters of the children.
I would recommend you give this a watch but make sure you watch the original first if you haven't already.

I love Blumhouse films, I watch them all and haven't yet seen a total stinker although some are obviously better than others.
Just when I thought this was going to be the first big stinker and a total miss they reveal the twist... dun dun dun.. and I remember why I LOVE Blumhouse.
I enjoyed the subtle references to other horror movies and the characters were great and well developed. I could have sworn I saw Alice Cooper in one quick scene.
Don't get me wrong this wasn't a masterpiece by any means but a decent watch and worth a go if you are looking for something easy and fun to pass the time.

Normally when watching a supernatural movie that involves demons and possession you get over the top special effects and priests waving crosses and flicking holy water.
This movie had none of that and is one of the best I have seen in the genre (and trust me, I've seen a lot of them). There were zero special effects and a large part of the movie was carried by only two actors talking in a room. I was riveted.
What an exceptionally well written and thought provoking movie. Watching the world these days I often ponder the decisions we make as a race and they sometimes leave me perplexed. This movie grabs hold of that contemplation, burrowing in and leaving a bug that will eat away at your reasoning long after you finish watching.
The only reason for 9 stars and not 10 is the final scene, it wasn't necessary and detracted from what was an exceptional movie.
