Filmed in Barcelona under the title of "Gatti rossi in un labirinto di vetro" which translates to English as Red Cats In A Glass Maze, this Giallo Horror, Mystery, Thriller and proto Slasher movie is most commonly known as "Eyeball" (as it was titled when released in the USA as well as the United Kingdom). Not only is it a co-production between Spain and Italy, like one of many in the early to mid 1970s but it is also a prime example of a film that is sadly misunderstood to a high extent.
This movie follows a group of American tourists on a shuttle bus throughout the city of Barcelona, Spain who are traveling with an unseen murderer that is obsessed with people's eyeballs and will do anything to kill as many people as possible all while trying to keep their identity a secret. It's not until the police start hunting them down as more bodies continue to pile up that one of the main characters happens to remember something significant from their past that may in fact be the key to solving the case. Only problem is that, they're suspected of murder when they are actually innocent and the police don't believe him at all. Only he and another woman can stop the spree of eye gouging that is plaguing the city. Can they stop the violence before it's too late?
Sure it's over the top, as well as a bit trashy too but the film benefits all the more from this approach than anything else to create something more entertaining, albeit less serious than some other films in the subgenre but still rather bloody all the same. This proved to be a very popular Grindhouse film when it first came out to the point to where it was even strangely enough shown in a double feature with Dario Argento's 1977 masterpiece, Suspiria. Not sure who thought this was a good idea but I'll take it as Suspiria is one of my all-time favorite movies.
I would go as far as to say that it demands critical re-evaluation as being one of maestro Umberto Lenzi's last greatest movies, in addition to one of the best but also highly underrated Giallo films ever made. Some people may find it 'campy' or 'forgettable' but it is anything but that. I watched this with both of my parents who were in their late 60s at the time and all three of us thought this movie was a LOT of FUN, regardless of its flaws... which are quite minor in my honest opinion and nothing to really complain much about. The dialogue, music, visuals and effects honestly saves it from being a bottom of the barrel murder mystery.
I totally recommend this movie, even more so to be watched in a group to add to the fun of it all because it really is a ride from beginning to end, let me tell you! It certainly has tons of bizarre characters, red herrings, in addition to a wonderful soundtrack and interesting direction. Not to mention this hidden gem possesses some pretty well done acting for a film of this nature. It's not for everyone though. Only those who appreciate a good time as well as something truly different. 9/10

I am a sucker for werewolves and pretty much everything having do with them so it was a pleasant surprise stumbling upon this little gem on youtube a few nights ago. For a relatively unknown short film, I was engaged from the first few minutes up until the very end. Needless to say, it really did a good job at holding my interest.
The characters were realistic, the dialog was funny as well as well-written, and overall it was acted quite nicely all throughout. Not to mention also with wonderful special effects/make up as a plus. Like someone else said though, my only complaint was that since half of it was filmed at night, some of the scenes were a little hard to see. Other than that, I honestly wished this was longer! I didn't find it to be derivative at all either in the slightest. No in fact, I was quite impressed. I also liked how the title of the short had a dual meaning.
Since the plot is mostly original and it boasts awesome make up as well as special effects, in addition to interesting characters, I would say that this deserves more recognition from Indie film goers. If you add another 50-60 minutes onto this short, it could easily be it's own movie. Hopefully one day that will happen but in the meantime, I will be looking forward to seeing all of these actors in more projects.

Why don't more people know about this gem? This is a eerie proto-slasher mixed with strong elements of Murder mystery thriller and turbulent family psychodrama that is rather intelligently woven together to create something both unique and original. The entire cast is excellent from start to finish, and the suspense builds to a spider web of unbearable tension. Home For The Holidays is very creepy for a TV Movie so in my opinion, I do think that this has aged pretty well needless to say...
It still has the power to shock after all these years. I was pleasantly surprised because I got something much more wonderful than I was even expecting. Not only is it full of red herrings that are clever yet precise but this film is first-rate thriller that strongly borders on horror. A hell of a lot of fun indeed, more or less definitely worthy of its Cult classic status. One of the best TV movies for sure too.
