I've been excited for this for many months and I watched to the end before reviewing. Start with I have been an Alien fan for decades! I even have a Xenomorph Trophy skull from Jack of the Dust. One whole wall of my carport is draped in an Alien advertisement from the movie theatre, that an employee got for me and more than one movie grade costume...like I am a FAN! All that said, I certainly didn't know what to expect with the Earth series, but all in all I think it was well done. They found a decent way for the aliens to reach earth. They needed the modified humans to push the narrative. They had some cool new aliens and I was excited to see more of the "alien growing" into a queen. I guess the purists are just all bent out of shape, hence the 1star ratings. Come on, it was new and it was fresh. It was a great idea that may have some flaws and growing pains and that's okay! I feel like next season will be even better. If it's not, well I'll still watch it and any other Alien movies or show. Easy enough for the haters to turn off.
Although this show found its stride...finally there's still some things that could improve. Mainly Esmeralda. She may be a decent enough actress (I'm not entirely sure because I don't recognize her) but this character is terrible. She threw the whole show off at times. Everyone else was easily likable from jump and all having different likeable qualities. I just couldn't find one with her. That being said it wouldn't stop me from watching the next season.
Like I'm not sure why some people are giving this movie such grief. It's funny! The cast is good, the music is good and the dry humor is perfectly done. I can just hear the pretentious douches now. It's soooo beneath me and this is not an intelligent enough movie for me to spend 1-1/2 hours on. Blah blah blah this is a COMEDY! Not horror and not a stupid romcom. I've already told 4 other people to watch it, who like me don't take themselves or their comedies so seriously. It's a winner for me. Hit the dispensary then give this a watch, if you have any sense of humor at all, I think you'll like it.
