  • Nice Twist On Vengeance

When I noticed this film scrolling the catalog at my favorite film store, I stopped and checked it out, then watched a trailer and browsed the synopsis and added it to the cart. I got the Severin Films remaster and was shocked when the star turned out to be Father Damien Karras from Exorcist, I can't imagine why I didn't recognize him in the trailer, but the second I saw him close up and heard his voice in the film I was like :Hey wait a second"...lol. Was also shocked at how much nudity he was willing to do, which was pretty much to bare all in every way LOL.

It's a well done political thriller horror, there's lots of blood and kills from both the Dog and from other people. I knew I would get into it, being such a Vengeance Horror fan and it did not disappoint. Both his relentless attempt to complete his mission and the relentless pursuit by the Dog made for some very engaging tension and elicited your "rooting" for him to get away from what could be called a relentless stalker, akin to some horror villain determined to get it's victim. Great film for a horror collection or film collection in general. Give it a try, it's a classic worth having.

  • Good Flawed Fun

I see the typical horror haters at it again. But as usual, ignore most of them As horror fans know to do. This is a low budget film and should be gone into as such. I knew that when I bought the bluray, but I also knew it would be decent fun and it was. I was pretty surprised at the dialog, which was way more witty, well delivered and engaging than I thought it would be. I laughed quite a bit as was intended at some of the snaps, quips and comebacks. The characters, were also surprisingly engaging and likable and the banter between them well executed.

Of course there are flaws, but interestingly most of them are production related, and almost entirely and obviously budgetary. With limited resources for special effects most of what could have been juicy kills were sideways or off screen, leaving the film lacking in that department, I don't really knock off way too much considering that it's only a money thing holding the film back as opposed to bad acting, bad story or poor direction on screen. All of which this film was fine and fun with.

So yeah, that is disappointing but in this film's case, the fun had with what special effects were there, and the dialog and crisp writing and character development and engagement made up for quite a bit of it. In the end it was a fun little film with some fun characters and laughs. Good effort on those notes. Glad I have it in my collection.

  • Wicked Fun

The wicked fun so many these days have forgotten how to enjoy. As this was suppose to be Citizen Kane lol. Actual score is 7.8 but I round up to spite the trolls and bombers. Great cast, the typical pretty people in peril required for a good slasher. Some very funny characters, from the BDay girls to the infamous naked cowboy and cross-sections of the stereotypical "New Yorkers"

The kills were well done and all practical with several being "head turning" and nicely gory. Especially the "ode to I Spit On Your grave" moment....nicely squirm worthy. Nice runtime, not the typical below 90 minute laziness. Fun final group and cat and mouse last half. With the occasional cannon-fodder survivor being found and dispatched.

Just a great overall FUN time with no need for deep thought or psychological musings. Hack and slash and popcorn is all you need. Very sad that so many have forgotten how to have fun with films, horror in particular, yet they claim to revere the 80's which is nothing BUT this kind of good time.

A whole new meaning to whistle while you work...LMAO. Great little film, just ignore the pearl clutchers and BORES as has become priority number one where listening to people whine about films is concerned. Glad to own the Blu-Ray and have it in my collection.
