Unfortunately, I've met enough control freaks to know the characterisation is pretty accurate, although not all the detail is very true to life eg the hospital. Regardless, it's still an important story to tell as we need to be on our guard. So whilst this movie isn't exactly uplifting, it does make me feel vindicated and spurs me on to have greater strategies when controlling people are unavoidable.
This is a quirky, original scenario - for a mystery series at least. Alongside the official investigation, Det Helen has ongoing personal stories to solve. I really like the characters, they are just the right balance of individual but not quite over the top. Overall, it's light-hearted and warm-hearted too.
This light-hearted, original scenario makes a change from the weary widowed cop over-done in so many other shows. The arc storylines of the main family's three generations add enough variety around the episodic mystery. There's intrigue, humour, new friendships, a hint of romance and a few familiar faces, which always adds to the fun. The music is good, not too repetitive nor drowns out the dialogue.
