There appears to be a number of documentaries being released concerning the opposing sides in what was formerly Palestine. A few of the documentaries are well worthy of a watch, while the others come up short. As usual, there are two sides to every story. With "The Blessing and the Curse" (2025), I was hoping for a more balanced presentation, which this documentary was not. Understanding a viewpoint from the other side of the equation would have been helpful as an informative documentary. But considering the contemporary issues with the daily crimes in the occupied West Bank; the particular incident of focus in the documentary that occurred years ago is an isolated event and not reflected of the realities on the ground. In fact, the film does expose the mysticism and racism that has permeated the mindset of the area, but offered no solution other than dire consequences for the defenceless inhabitants of the land. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that better documentaries are in the works and soon to be released.
I found the whole premise of the documentary boring and redundant and tedious and unconvincing. They certainly tried hard to get their version of occurrences and events across, but I have seen more persuasive productions with more compelling casting. I was hoping for something more substantial than what they were trying to imply. There certainly are a number of documentaries worth watching these days such as the recent Oscar winning documentary "No Other Land" or Louis Theroux "The Settlers" which properly deals with contemporary and historical issues that are of vital importance. These two documentaries certainly have a substantially high rating among viewers.
This is the kind of documentary that should be mandatory viewing for all schools and for all ages. It sets the record straight on the realities on the ground in Palestine and the horrendous crimes perpetrated upon the innocent civilian population. The thing that kept resonating within me throughout the viewing of this most important documentary was the fact that what was being exposed was only a small fragment of what has been going on for decade after decade. If ever there was a more important and timely documentary that everyone should watch; this is certainly it. The fact that it has limited or suppressed viewing only goes to prove the famous quote by Voltaire: "To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize."
