Born into Upper Middle Class Texas in 1962, I remember the extreme racism of the time. It hurt MY feelings to see PEOPLE of color treated so poorly. My parents and both sets of grandparents employed housekeepers of color, who were like SECOND MOMs to me. I loved them, their culture, spirituality and sense of family I, unfortunately, did not have. INCREDIBLE WATCH, and a STARK reminder of the HATE so many people still carry.

I'm so tired of all the NAYSAYERS.. Every film is NOT an Oscar Worthy vehicle. Netflix is making some GREAT Films, some Good Films and so on. This film was VERY GOOD. Its a MYSTERY and behaves as a Rather good one. Heche,Jane and Patric are fantastic as always and the plot will keep even the most SAVY mystery geeks (myself inc) guessing til the END I got it "almost right" lol. And don't expect to have EVERY subplot spelled out for you by the end. Who likes a "SpoonFed" film anyway? Not ME

I don't know why there are so many negative reviews about this series. It might not be "True Detectives" but its definitely holding its own. Each episode WILL leave you wanting more, which is a pretty good indicator of good TV in my book. Every time you're SURE you have it figured out, here comes another curve ball. The unknown/unfamiliar cast does a great job. Who doesn't have love for "Black Jack Rackam of Black Sails", "Sam Merlot of True Blood" and "Daniel Holden of Rectify"? Don't let other peoples negative opinions sway you from at least trying this series and forming your OWN opinion.
