A solid adaptation of Mary Shelley's book. Beautifully filmed, some really excellent acting, especially by Jacob Elordi as the monster. I was really surprised at how good his acting was, having only seen him in Euphoria. Guillermo Del Toro - great work at writing and directing this film. Pretty much what I would expect from him. My sole complaint was how long this was. My guess is that it probably could have been trimmed by a half an hour here and there, and still would have been a great movie.
Sheriff Country is not totally bad, nor will it win an Emmy this year. A woman sheriff in a small town presents some interesting possibilities. The sheriff as portrayed by Morena Baccarin is more of a smooth talker than a shoot em up cowboy type sheriff. While there are crimes going on, so far none of them keep you on the edge of your chair. The emphasis is more in the personal relationships. Morena Baccarin really keeps the shows quality up. The other actors are ok. The writing could be better. Still, it's worth a watch. Hoping the writing gets better.
House of Dynamite is off to a great start, but as the film goes on it gradually unravels to a Grade C (maybe). It has a pretty great cast - Rebecca Ferguson, Idris Elba, and others do a good job. Still, even they couldn't pull this one out of the garbage. It stretches the imagination that the threat of nuclear war would be managed in this way, by a group of incompetent government bureaucrats. Still, given the reality of today's America, it might not be too much of a stretch.
