The ground reality is that both orthodox or liberal families in India will never ALLOW a young woman of marriageable age to abroad ALONE without some friend or distant relative brother to go along, snooping on her..So STOP Daydreaming...This is India and We are like this ONLY... Imagine going to Amsterdam, the sex capital of the world...ALONE and that too by an Indian Girl...In your DREAMS. A middle class family born Indian girl asserting your independence by living with 4 foreigners...visiting a brothel ...Is the Director hallucinating...and if you really think this movie would change the mindset of all hypocritical Indian families...you need to just visit a typical Indian wedding, when a girl is EXPECTED to behave and act according to what elders command... keeping the RESPECT of the whole family...SO just STOP daydreaming and follow the Sanskars of an Indian FAMILY. Anyways the thought process behind the movie is Good...a young woman of marriageable age should visit abroad... before her marriage just to know weather she wants to enter into a marriage and miss out all the independence of a being a global WOMAN of the world and not just be Bhartiya Nari as the whole society expects out of her...That way a lot of marriages would not happen...which is lot more better than entering into a HOLY UNION of two souls where both partners are expected to behave and act according to what SOCIETY expects out of them... The other side of QUEEN is the view of the KING..in this whole Marriage business in India where a large proportion of grooms are also similar victims, inexperienced, irresponsible and pampered to behave like Royalty..when inside they are unsure..afraid and also conditioned to follow the SANSKARS of the Indian Family..I would suggest they should also introspect before entering a married life...It will save a lot of money, pain and ultimately Happiness for everyone...But as of now everyone can only Daydream of the Future of Great Indian Family Traditions.!! Jai Ho !!
THIS MOVIE IS A MASTERPIECE...This movie has a soul...a silent scream of a person that has nowhere to go and no one to speak to...and so life is just a HIGHWAY !! Two people from different economic strata, brought together by fate, yet having similar childhood of mistrust, trauma and abuse. There is that void..a deep hole within the soul... that can never ever be forgotten and never be filled ever again. This movie has so many layers deep within it... like how men react differently to traumatic childhood by being aggressive and secluded within, longing for the mother figure to comfort them, and women on the other hand become carefree, wanting to just run from it all and always longing for that father figure that can take care of her always. Imitiaz Ali has researched it so well that you can feel the pain, the inappropriate joy ...and the crazy feeling of comfort in the most strange circumstances. Brilliant piece of art with such a grey hue and painted on landscape of colors !! Alia bhatt..has talent..plenty, plenty of it, and randheep hooda is brilliant. Imitiaz Ali knows the soul and heart of a woman and recreates it well in all its brilliance... a MUST watch Film !!
