I personally can't believe the positive reviews of this movie can be genuine. We watched if after looking at the overall score and were very dissapointed. It's shallow, predictable, repetitive and with a badly set up plot at the start. It makes reference to groundhog day during the film, but frankly any reference to GHD is an insult to that film. The lead roles are unconvincing and we just could not buy into the characters or really care what happened to them. We stopped watching part way through so no idea if there was a happy ending and frankly don't care either way. Back to movie school for everyone involved!
We were looking for a film to watch at the local cinema, read the overview and thought we would give this one a go. It pretty much turned out exactly as we expected - Not a 10 out of 10 film, but a feel good movie that was well worth watching. I wont go into details and risk a spoiler but it is a good mix of drama and comedy. Plenty of laughs, a bit of romance and a nice story that is based on real life events. If you fancy a night out with a movie that's entertaining and an easy watch give Fishermans Friends a go.
Having really enjoyed the whole Harry Potter franchise and the first fantastic beasts film, I was really looking forward to seeing this film. On the positive side the special effects are quite spectacular and I still love Eddie Redmayne's character Newt. On the negative side I did find it quite confusing, especially given that they attempted to explain what was going on part way through. However, the thing that has really put me off of going back to see the next film was the complete lack of a decent ending. It left me feeling really ripped off and surely it cant be that hard to give a film a decent ending even though it is part of an ongoing story - The Potter movies managed it ! I was just left feeling very disappointed and sad about what could have been a great film.
