Modern Doctor Who has a curse with Spider-themed episodes apparently, because from Kill The Moon, to the worst episode ever made for this show, Arachnids in the UK, it seems like, no matter how different the plots are, or how involved the Spiders are, they turn out to be some of the most boring and uncomfortable watches in the show.
The intro of the episode is FANTASTIC, the set up is amazing, the mystery intriguing, and really, the concept of the villain is also great... but the rest of the episode is just boring, with them sitting in the room doing nothing, the resolution is a bit anticlimactic. There is a cameo that doesn't feel earned and is really contradictory since The Doctor shouldn't remember it.
Such potential for a story is lost in something that feels like "we have a great idea, but we didn't know how to execute it"

One of the best Christmas Stories comes from the hands of Moffat once again. With an amazing concept, a cool little mini adventure with Anita, and an ending that just feels so weird yet, so right it just makes me laugh, in a good way.
Is not perfect, I would say is an 85/100 but the score is to help balance the obvious review bombs from trolls. I stand by my words that is one of the best Christmas Specials ever, not at the level of A Christmas Carol, Husbands of River Song or Last Christmas, but god it comes really, really close with how creative, excellent paced and amazing characters it has.

They hit rock bottom with S11, so whatever they try with this Series that makes me hook, I'm in for it. And even if it feels forced, it also feels natural if that makes any sense.
Returning characters and a plot twist that of couse will make sense in the finale, truly left me expecting for the rest, even if I felt "Are we really doing this?... welp, let's see how it goes"
