A great movie for fans of 90s Bollywood. One of the best things about this movie was that you can tell they had the budget to execute what they were trying to do. Sunil's execution of the action sequences is flawless. Shilpa gets to explore two different characters and has as much screen time as Sunil. Faraz Khan looks good and plays the villain really well. The plot would've benefited from exploring his villain origin story. Shweta Menon makes her debut in this movie, but doesn't have much to do. She fails at bringing the role to life. The locales, costumes and songs hit the mark. The movie needed to explore the story with VK /Rashmi more. The chemistry was good between Sunil and Shilpa.
A good movie failed by a poor budget. The best part of the movie was the storyline, however due to obvious financial constraints the movie is left looking really tacky, outdated. There are issues with continuity (hair styles especially) that are distracting. In certain scenes (like when the body falls on riya) you can clearly see they used a doll instead of vfx. By the time this movie released in 2008 that indian film audience had already started expecting more from film makers. The soundtrack is a mishmash of songs that probably did not make the cut for other films. Mahima does her crying/scream queen thing. Suman is underused and dino should've stayed a model.
I loved this movie, it was one of the best I've seen in a long time. While I dont see myself watching it again, it was a great one time weekday watch. Ananya completely carries this movie on her shoulders and has proven with Ctrl that she is not just another nepo kid, but is here to stay. Her acting range has expanded and the director was able to pull a lot out of her. She has the potential to make it to the top if she is choosy about her scripts. The story was really good and there were a few twists and turns I didnt predict. The supporting cast was good in there roles but no one really stood out.
