Clint doesn't cover himself with glory in this acting/director role. Not a patch on the spaghetti westerns he starred in under Sergio Leone and tries in vain to emulate here.
Revenge westerns have been done better before and after this ugly, nasty and tawdry western. The tone is set early on when Eastwood's character rapes a woman who stupidly attempts to grab his attention. This isn't the only rape he commits but sadly the women are just in awe of him.
There is no-one to root for, the townspeople are weak willed, scaredy cats and by the end you won't be bothered if everyone is killed, Eastwood included!

We gave this a go wishing to watch something different with a decent IMDB rating. Not being aware of the Marvel Universe and back story didn't help. It starts off as an enjoyable 50s spoof with super heroes but gradually descends into ridiculous who cares less 'my powers are better than your powers' nonsense. It peaks midway possibly but once the witchy, super powers take hold it soon descends into I don't give a sh** rubbish. By the final episode you are desperate for it all to finish. For teenagers and below only and only then if you have seen few films of any real worth. It soon becomes special effects and little else. Avoid.
Having waded through too many sub-standard and lacklustre murder mystery dramas in recent times I was not optimistic that this would mount to much. How pleasantly surprised my wife and I were. Beautifully presented and shot along the River Thames and the small town of Marlow, this is well acted (on the whole), likeable and enjoyable. Don't expect this to be Morse or Lewis standard, it isn't as predictable as Death in Paradise and the acting, script and production is better than Sister Boniface, Madame Blanc and numerous other low key murder mystery farces. And don't get me started on the dreadful Johnny Vegas Murder series.....
