Episode 4 comes right after a very exciting cliffhanger by the end of episode 3. Fortunately I've decided not to watch the episodes weekly, otherwise I'd be twice as disappointed with it as I already am.
The episode feels long, boring and the plot is unrealistic even within the show's own universe. Spoilers ahead:
I was going with the flow because I thought we were watching someone's dream or something like that. Do you really want me to believe that dangerous outdoor activity, pretty much unsupervised, was a reasonable idea? And the "outies" accepted to take part in that? Sure, let's put the innies in a massive frozen wilderness, but let's not debrief them right away, instead let's make each of them appear on a different spot, then let's make them hike, with close to zero "real world" experience, confused and scared until they can gather little bits of information.
Suspension of disbelief has a limit.

After watching Jordan Peele's Get Out and Nope (ratings 6/10 and 7/10 for my personal taste), I thought I knew what to expect from Us, but even going in with low expectations, the movie managed to annoy and bore me from beginning to end.
The development is slow and uninteresting, the action is predictable, the main premise is so weak that if you give 5 extra seconds of attention to it, it breaks completely. That's why the movie universe must remain shallow and underdeveloped. Some premises are better off being a complete mystery - a poorly explained premise is always the worse option.
In my opinion, metaphors and symbolism can transform a good movie into a great one, but they can also turn a bad movie into a pathetic attempt at an artsy, cultsy hit. And before I forget: adding a silly plot twist at the end does not erase the past hour and a half.
Go watch Coherence instead.
