It feels like the kind of movie that won't leave you alone for a while afterward. Not so much a film about the supernatural as it is about grief, and the lengths we would go to do anything except face it.
What I love about a film like this is that it contains real people, both protagonists and antagonists, and not just hollow props to be jump scared or killed.
There's real depth here that does proper justice to horror as a genre. It explores some ugliness in human nature that we may want to recoil from, but which nevertheless is there. Worth a watch for any fan of horror or the human condition.

I had never heard of this movie, knew nothing about it going in, but it was an AI suggestion. Not much to dislike about this one. I would have maybe liked to learn more about the overarching story that the main characters walked into, but what's here is pretty excellent. Satisfying in most every way.
Obviously, if an artifact like this hand actually existed, more people would pay attention to it than a bunch of teenagers. But then we wouldn't have a movie.
Other than that fairly glaring flaw, this is a pretty unique and interesting story. I had no expectations heading into this, other than "it's teenagers, they'll probably do dumb things". But the movie does a good job of making some very poor choices seem relatable, because the characters are more than just paper-thin cutouts who exist only to get killed by the boogie man.
Worth a watch, in my opinion.
