My only real gripe is about the Sten gun used by Crouchback during the Crete campaign...they werent issued yet....historically, it would have been a Thompson.
I read The Magus when I was about 15...I'm 69 now.
I read it over a few successive weekends anchored in a cabin cruiser off Big Island at Lake Minnetonka so the environment was perfect to absorb Fowles.
3 years later the movie was released...the settings, the actors, are spot on. At best to condense this novel into a script is a challenge similar to David Lynch's attempt at Dune. Great books...a challenge to translate the stories into a script but both capture the essence.

The scene where they assault the machine gun nest next to the bombed radar installation makes absolutely tactical sense what so ever. With a sniper on their team why not just let him pick off the crew rather than use the entire squad? Plus, tactically it makes no sense to send a corpsman along with the squad.
