Devil's hour, Season 1 blew my mind. It was a real wild ride, full of mystery and intrigue that messes up with your brain cells something awful. Now the ending? It wasn't perfect alright, but I don't think it matters much in a series like this one. There coud have been many alternative endings and they would all be fine to some extent. If everything was wrapped up neat as a package it wouldn't be as much fun watching. And it's science fiction. Deals with all sorts of weird concepts like alternate lives, recurrence... They could've labeled the show better. IMDB's first page says it's psychological mystery but it's much more than that for sure. Reminded me of that other series Dark. But you know what? Devil's Hour edges it for me because that ending wasn't shoved down our throats. There was a lot of foreshadowing throughout the episodes and I liked that. There might be some unanswered questions hanging about. It's part of the fun trying to piece everything together yourself. This "Lots Of Unanswered Questions" review summed it up alright. I think Season 2 will be as good and would provide more answers.
In my opinion, this series falls short significantly. The drama level is overwhelming but with little excitement in its plot progression. There are no surprises; instead, events seem to unfold predictably without much development.
Character depth and interactions feel superficial rather than meaningful. It appears more like a collection of vignettes rather than cohesive episodes with well-structured narratives. The transitions between scenes is abrupt and disjointed. This results in an uneven pacing that fails to engage. The series' structure is chaotic and inconsistent, often moving around. There are missing chunks of information, which further detracts from its overall coherence. It feels more like a mishmash.
I understand that some viewers might be drawn to the series due to its dramatic nature or because it caters to certain cultural themes relevant to adolescents today. However, in my view, these elements do not translate into quality storytelling. The rating of 1 out of 10 is to adjust for potential overrating by enthusiastic viewers who might inflate the score beyond what is deserved, a more realistic evaluation would place it around a 4 out of 10. Also the last episode is abysmally boring.
