zao923's rating
I absolutely cannot understand the low ratings. This is well filmed, well acted, and keeps the heart pumping. To give it a 2 or a 1 is not sincere and that makes it akin to a D-Grade basement exploitation flick. I'm sorry you didn't like the story, but give me a break- a 2/10 for the movie as a whole? Ridiculous. If all of your ratings on IMDb are to the extreme, then maybe no more reviews for you?
The feeling of watching an over-confident protagonist let their guard down and you're filled with dread? The feeling of relief when life is put on pause and you're living in the moment? A semi-plot twist that makes you question yourself? All here.
If you don't mind subtitles, this is a good movie if you're into horror thrillers with suspense.

Group carelessness. Does anything create more tension? While setting up for the eventual disaster, you at least become slightly relaxed watching these kids have fun.
Ouija Boards? OK Boomer.
Talking to the dead isn't enough. We want to become possessed and then act like no harm will come of it. Party time!!!
Honestly, I loved this movie for many reasons. Aside form the careless aspect that every teenager and his/her friends have- there are some great practical effects in this movie. The designs of the putrid flesh or quick images of a tortured soul in hell give Hellraiser and 80's flicks a run for their money.
The intro scene is confusing and then disturbing...but it starts off 90mph.
And if for some reason you can't stand it he main character? Wait it out, it pays to watch!

I'm a bit baffled by the negative reviews. Even more by folks saying this film is confusing, hard-to-follow, or dis-jointed. An original flick with great acting and a great reveal? It's not a masterpiece, but it still beats out many movies in this genre that are rated much higher. I'd say it's closer to a 6.8-7.2 but hey, if all you watch is on 10's then please send me a list of the three movies you watch on repeat.
I don't remember there being a minimum review character count. So here I am filling in the void, the morning after, sitting on the pot, adding words. Oh! I love this line from Right In Two by the band Tool...
"Repugnant is the creature who would squander his ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here."
