I loved it! I laughed my ass off at some of the (deliberately) ridiculous dialogue and special FX. Give me ping pong ball eyes in a film and you have a fan in me. I recommend this movie to any fans of those cheesy 50's era sci-fi flix. If you want a laugh and don't take your science fiction to seriously, this movie is for you. The Professor is a great character, and the woman playing his fiancé is an absolute highlight. Nicely paced and well written, I was entertained from beginning to end. Bravo to the makers of this film and double bravo to the makers of the gadgets our heroes use to make important " scientific " discoveries. If there isn't a sequel to this there should be. After watching this movie for the 3rd time, not only am I much wiser about science and aliens, but I also have a great respect for the folks who put the film together. Their love of the genre they poke fun at is obvious. Love it!!!
How are these guys not making movies in Hollywood? This film is twice as entertaining as anything Hollywood is offering and, for what I am guessing, they've done it on a very meager budget. Great parody of the golden era black and white creature features that so many of us love. Think The Brain From Planet Arous meets Ed Wood at a Jersey drive-in. The acting is very good, with all of the principles committed fully to the silliness and the dialogue is just as interesting. This movie has all the stock characters we associate with this type of movie. The scientists are a genuine laugh riot, as are the amazingly well done brain effects. The music that accompanies the action is one of the movies real strong points and I was thrilled to see that it was composed by some of the film makers themselves. I honestly thought that they had found the greatest and most genre appropriate pieces of public domain music ever. Hats off to all involved. One more thing, Samantha Quintana ( who plays the character Andie ) is without a doubt the most beautiful woman in todays independent film universe. A total stunner, with some impressive acting chops as well!
This movie is really bad. I don't mean cheap or amateurish, as I understand low budget independent film making has many obstacles. My problem is that it is written terribly, acted even worse and is just a massive rip off of John Waters brilliant, Serial Mom. The title character ( played by the fleshy and comatose April Burrill ) kills those who offend her sensibilities by acting in ways she feels are unacceptable. Bad manners, talking in the library, not recycling ( whoops, that's from Serial Mom, sorry )... well, u get the picture. Basically the writer has taken Beverly Sutphin, Waters's domestic maniac, and put her in some punk rock ( read: I bought this cool gear at Hot Topic ) clothes. I could let the ripping off slide if the damn movie was even a little entertaining but it's not. I gave this one star. I do like to find one positive in any movie I hate, and in this, it's the actress Kristen Hudsen. She is beautiful, sexy and the only person who appears on screen that can act. Why isn't she Chainsaw Sally????
