This is what happens when an abundance of US money meets actual British talent.
It is like Donald Trump has watched some fantastic British murder mysteries - and has though 'Oh I could do that'.
The actors are superb (all British A listers, who would never be affordable in any British movei) and could act their ways through a menu, but the movie just reeks of shallow Disney world impressions of what the UK is supposed to be like.
Every single shot just stinks - When one person phones their daughter (a business womem, well of course we see London Bridge and the Gerkin outside of her window) - The main characters live in an old peoples home which is a castle and of course its adjacent to a idyllic village with church tower, red phone box, tiny village police station where the only poster is for a missing dog. The castle has its own graveyard which develops lotties are trying to dig up to build flats. Theres a scene at a 'market' which reminds me of something out of a satrie like Austin Powers idea of what Britain looks like.

It's no accident that Google issued a red alert in 2024 - in a panic over the release of OpenAIs ChatGPT which had 100 million users within 2 weeks of launch.
If you watched this movie - you'd ne led to believe that this was the only game in town, and not only is it NOT - it is not even the most popular.

Within a few minutes of watching this Dr Who episode - you can feel its a bit special.
Often the best Dr Who episodes I associate with the revamp of Eccleston and David Tennant - and this one gave me the same vibe, so after checking I was not surprised to see that Russel T Davies was responsible.
When I say Davies has no fear - I mean he's got such bold ideas, it reminds me of the Scifi of John Wyndham where other sci-fi writers piss around on the margins with aliens, disasters a sort of soap opera in space- Davies like Wyndham has a better reach and doesn't tip toe around an idea.
So what better than this episode - which also had some absolutely fantastic acting on the part of the villain.
